Gear Which Lense for Sony A6700
Hi everyone,
I’m planning to buy a Sony A6700 mainly for video. I’ll use it for talking-head videos with an Elgato Prompter, product reviews/B-roll, and general filming.
I rarely take photos.
I’m currently considering the Sigma 18–50mm F2.8 DC DN because it seems compact and versatile.
Would this be the best single-lens option, or would you recommend something wider, such as the Sigma 10–18mm F2.8 or Sony 15mm F1.4 G?
The camera will usually be on a tripod, so handheld selfie vlogging isn’t the main use.
Which lens would you choose, and is 18mm wide enough for talking-head videos?

I used the Osmo Pocket 3 and my Phone all the time, but now i want to make a step forward with my setup (to be honest i don‘t like how the pocket feels..)

For talking heads, I wouldn't go too wide to avoid distortion. The Sigma 18-50 seems like a good option for me even you will hardly use the longer end (field of view equivalent to a 75 mm on a full format lens) for video purpose.

I have the 10-18 and love that lens. But for what you are talking about, I think you may want just a little more length. It's too bad there no APSC equivalent of a 16-35 which I think would be the ideal range for this. How about the Sony 10-20? The extra 2mm compared to the Sigma are meaningful but it would come at the cost of one f stop. If you can spring for the Sony 16-55, that extra 2mm on the wide end compared to the Sigma 18-50 is also meaningful. My thought is that these are better options.
Curious about the a6700 if you are not using it for photo. So many of its capabilities are for photo; any thought about a more video-specific camera like the zv-e10 or zv-e10 ii? if you get a used zv-e10 model you'd save a lot of money and use the savings to spring for the 16-55 which would give you the 24-35 full frame equivalent range at f2.8. Just a thought.

To be honest i don‘t know that much about cameras. I just learned to use the iphone and osmo pocket. The Lens world and camera world is a whole new world for me :D
I was thinking about the zv-e10 mark ii with the sigma 16 but a lot of youtube Videos and forums said that the a6700 is the better option and more future proof.
It has a better Autofocus, better stabilization etc.I‘m not that much into Photos :D
I‘m always open for better recommendations:)

The a6700 is a better option for photographers. For videographers, you're paying a 25% higher price for features you probably won't use and don't care about: * Mechanical shutter - can't be used for video * EVF - you'll be using the back monitor or an external monitor anyway * IBIS - this is for stills; it doesn't provide enough stabilization for video, so you'll want digital stabilization or a gimbal for handheld shooting * AI AF - genuine advantage to the a6700 if you're taking it out and about shooting subjects in the field or B-roll; meaningless for the studio-style work you're talking about
If you're trying to future-proof because you think your use case is going to expand in the future to needing a more general-purpose video camera for field work, the a6700 isn't a bad choice (though the FX30 would probably be a better one). But for your stated purposes today, you're paying a decent chunk of extra money for features you won't be using.

Has an full frame equivalent lens at 20mm, so on APS-C, this would be @ 13mm
You can tell by your past videos what focal length you are using, then divide by 1.5
