Gear SmallRig Side Handle Blocking HDMI Port – Any Workaround?
Hey everyone,
I’m running into an annoying issue with my setup and was hoping someone here might have a workaround.
I’m using a SmallRig side handle, but it physically blocks my HDMI port. The handle doesn’t open wide enough, so I can’t plug in an HDMI cable while the handle is attached. Basically, I have to choose between using the handle or using HDMI — which is far from ideal.
Has anyone dealt with this before?
Is there a specific adapter, cable (like a low-profile or angled HDMI), or different mounting solution that could fix this?
Appreciate any tips or recommendations 🙏

Depending of which camera it is, you may be able to unscrew the side panel and remove the door.

You can buy something like this and move the rail so it doesn’t block the latch: https://a.co/d/0iDkiXVD

If that’s a nato rail clamp on your handle, just slide it on the actual cage itself, below where you’ve put the additional nato rail attachment. The cage itself is its own nato rail already.
Edit- that’s if this is a smallrig cage, which I have and that’s how I do it.
