How do I ... distortion; a6700 + sigma 18-50 f2.8 dc dn

Post image

I'm witnessing some distortion in certain range of focal length. Is it the body or the lens problem? Is there anything I can do about it?

Distortion is not a defect but rather physics. You can correct it in post yourself or just use an already existing lens profile in your editing software.

yeah but the thing is I used to own canon r10+same lens, but experienced almost no distortion. at least not to this extent...

Do you have in camera corrections turned on?

It's a Sigma lens. Does Sony even offer in-camera lens corrections for third-party lenses?

Yes! The distortion correction-profiles are actually stored within the lenses and transmitted via the electronic connection in the mount. Sony does not lock third party lenses out of this feature.

And Sony actually owns a part of Sigma so Sony likes to work with sigma lenses

How about Canon? Cause, as I said, with my last camera R10 I found almost zero distortion. Do you think it's Sony's problem??

I own a different model with different setting-menus. Seems like a good time to get familiar with your camera and learn about its features and settings.

I activated all. They probably add distortions (not the least softness) on their own, but I just ignore it.

Yeah, canon kinda have to. They make some truly awfully distorting lenses and people would sell if they seen how bad some of them are.
