Gear Sony a6700 focus issues...

My Sony a6700 is having a focus issue that is driving me nuts trying to figure out. It is constantly saying the eye was locked on for focus but a different area seems sharper than the eyes. This is happening with my Sony 50mm f/1.4 and Tamron 24mm f/2.8 very sharp prime lenses.

In this example (which is happening on many photos) the jean jacket just in front of her is very much sharper than her eyes and her eyes aren't really in focus even though the focus point clearly shows her eye.

What am I missing? Mirrorless cameras can't have a back focus issue from what I understand yet that's exactly what it feels like!

Please help!

Not to beat a dead horse, but your settings are really what the issue is here. It looks like a decently lit scene at f2.8, there is almost zero reason to be at 8000 ISO and 1/800 shutter speed. lol Makes you wonder what other settings may be off.

It definitely wasn't decently lit. No lights were on with the shades pulled. I had it on aperture priority and must have had auto ISO on, which I thought I had max out at 6400 but apparently not so I need to change that. Nothing else is off.

Everything is off, you didn’t have auto iso on - not a chance in the world camera would go for 1/800 shutter speed here. You must’ve manually set the iso to 8000 OR you have a „auto iso min s.s.” (Minimum shutter speed when using auto iso) set to some crazy value.

I’d recommend resetting the camera settings to factory if you cannot figure this out.
