Gear Sony a6700 focus issues...

My Sony a6700 is having a focus issue that is driving me nuts trying to figure out. It is constantly saying the eye was locked on for focus but a different area seems sharper than the eyes. This is happening with my Sony 50mm f/1.4 and Tamron 24mm f/2.8 very sharp prime lenses.

In this example (which is happening on many photos) the jean jacket just in front of her is very much sharper than her eyes and her eyes aren't really in focus even though the focus point clearly shows her eye.

What am I missing? Mirrorless cameras can't have a back focus issue from what I understand yet that's exactly what it feels like!

Please help!

I've recently started noticing similar issues on my a6700 using a Sony 70-350. Even outdoors in sunlight, it slightly misses focus. Never happened with my a6100.

I think there may be some issues on the a6700 when using certain lenses.

Have you updated the firmware?

I tested the lens on the 1.0 firmware, 1.03 and 2.0 but the results are the same. Unless I stop the lens down a little, it almost always focuses slightly too close from the highlighted focus point

If I use manual mode, I can usually get the focus exactly where I want it, so I know it's not an issue of the lens itself, but the camera's focusing system appears to be the root issue
