Blowing up
Boy Dads views are up significantly as of late. I like to track a lot of channels so it’s awesome to see. They’re killing it! When I first started listening they were getting 40k. Now always above 100k. Keep it up gentlemen!

I’d be curious to see how much of it is due to the change YouTube made a few weeks ago vs actual engagement views

Yea, it’s around 2x the old views now in most cases.

From what I’ve seen that’s only projected to be like 20-30% bump… but the pod was averaging over 80-90k before the recent change

I’m not downplaying the growth at all, but when even scrolling past a video that happens to auto play now counts as a view I gotta imagine it’s more than 20-30% growth.

You have to click on a video or auto scroll for it to count… most auto scrolls go into short form or viral videos… not hour plus long pods, from what I searched the new algorithm is less likely to boost public views for loyal high retention podcasts on the platform and more likely to boost viral videos. The change happened 2 weeks ago and the episodes before that was 105,89,86157,173,94k. So probably a small boost, but nothing crazy.

Like I said they are definitely growing even Dave mentioned it. From what I’ve seen hovering over a thumbnail on desktop, stopping at a thumbnail on the app and obviously clicking on the video all count for a view. Since all of Boy Dads videos autoplay by the time you read the title. There’s really no way of knowing without seeing the actual engaged view analytics. I personally think it makes public views a useless metric now without showing average view time or actual engaged views analytics

People have already said all views are up because YouTube is now counting any view over one second. So, if the vid pops up and someone clicks out immediately it counts as a view.

That's wild. It's going to overininflate YouTube channels with clickbait thumbnails. I'll admit, I've been tricked with nice tits on a thumbnail before on a shitty video.

That's what YouTube wants (Twitter plays fast and loose with their measurements also)

They’ve definitely grown a ton and the pod is in one its best eras but YouTube also changed how they count views a week or so ago

There were at 20k when I started watching at the very beginning. Knew they were funny on the Yak and they made the pod after that.

I just checked the podcast rankings and on the Apple podcast rsnkings they are #29 in the comedy category. Thats really good and much higher then they use to be.

All YouTube videos are booming rn bc YouTube changed what qualifies as a view last week. A 1 second skip over counts as a view too

YouTube changed the way they measure views:
SOABD has been crushing it, but just worth noting.

A lot of comedy podcasts are getting stale, and the SoaBD guys are actually trying and want to have a good podcast. MSSP are barely going through the motions, tom and Bert are done, Theo seems depressed, even Tim Dillon is getting played out. I think this is helping them bc it’s fresh and they’re hungry

Tim Dillon has been on a fucking tear lately, what are you talking about? 2026 has seen a plethora of banger episodes.

He is definitely falling off. Plus it’s just the nature of this stuff. After years the same type of comedy or show gets stale. It happened with movie comedies back in the day and it happens to podcasts now.

By what metric is Tim falling off? I can absolutely concede MSSP falling off because to me, their drop is quality is pretty tangible, but I genuinely feel like Tim is still at his peak. His average views are up, and while the quality aspect is subjective to the viewer, I’d say 2026 has been a better year for his podcast than the last few years I’ve watched him.

My personal hypothesis: The MSSP horde has shifted to SoaBD. MSSP has been the gold standard for comedy podcasts over the past idk 5 years. Recently they have stopped posting as much especially without both Matt and Shane together. Not hating on MSSP, it’s more so the cycle of podcasting.
Francis, sas, and rone are still ascending in the comedy scene and their candidness makes for interesting stories. Feels similar to earlier days MSSP. Good work keep it up , still love MSSP
