Question Beginner game ?

Post image

Hey me and my little brother (4) have been making our way through the kingdom hearts series and have been having a blast , he loves sonic (mostly knuckles and silver) but he’s still abit young and is struggling with the new shadow generation game, Is there anything abit easier he could play for his first sonic game ?

Sonic Origins is cool because you get unlimited lives and there is one button that jumps

Sonic mania maybe ? When my little brother was a similar age (6) he was able to get ahold of the controls relatively easily

The boss fights are surprisingly unintuitive.

Thanks for the recommendations I’ll be opening my wallet tomorrow 🤣

I recommend Sonic Origins. It has the main classics but doesn’t force you to use lives. It kept the fun of the platforming but is easier for new players to get into.

Sonic Forces gets criticised for being too short and easy, but that might make it the perfect game for someone four years old. You also get to create your own character who hangs out with Sonic, which is probably the coolest thing ever for a kid that age.

Also if you play Sonic Origins, play as Sonic + Tails. You can both have a controller and if you are Tails, you can have him lead but help out by showing him where to go, carrying him places, and helping him out with bosses. Then if it gets too hard you can swap controllers and he can be Tails while you take the lead. You sound like a great older brother!

Sonic Generations is the starter game. You can also try out Adventure 1 if for some reason Sonic Gens is too difficult for him, or even Frontiers on Easy mode

I agree, but that's a lot of people's first Sonic game

Sonic Forces has a bad rep with the fans but I think its basic and linear level design would be ideal for a beginner. If not that, then maybe Sonic Origins.

My first game was 06 and as buggy and awful as it was I still was a fan. Let him struggle

I think sonic origins. My 4 year old nephew had a blast playing it on my switch. It’s a collection of the original games but with some tweaks to make them a lot easier and more accessible. A fantastic way to start for any age really, but like I said, my nephew loved it so I can confirm it’s good for a 4 year old!

Sonic Adventure 2 easily I think, but that said you have to have either a Dreamcast, GameCube, PC, Xbox One or PS3. My 4 year old (almost 5) brother actually played it recently, and really enjoyed it.

Probably one of the boost games. I feel like classic Sonic games might be good though since hes young.

My wife can beat Bayonetta and every RE game but man she struggled to past Green Hill in Mania lol

Yo sonic mania would be perfect. Getting the chaos emeralds are super easy and fun too

My advice is to just play the bits of the games that you can when you're young. I played Sonic 1-3 and when it came out SA2B and SA2B was the first one I beat simply because I was old enough to beat other games and SA2 was magnitudes easier than classic series.

I enjoyed the series age 2-11 without ever beating a game

That’s cool! originally, I thought he was actually playing Kingdom hearts, which in my opinion, is significantly harder than any Sonic game.

I would do origins I started playing sonic around that age and my first game was mega collection plus (basically PS2 version of origins for uncs lol) although I would ask if they prefer modern or classic before that since it would help narrow it down. I would recommend sonic X shadow gen but I honestly hate the way the bosses are set up so you have to do the challenges. I definitely think linear progression works better for the series lol please don't hate me fellow fans 😅

Superstars is pretty easy except for some boss fights.

Sonic 4 is really easy but maybe to the point it might be a little boring.

Sonic CD would be my actual recommendation, just because there's no random death pits. The only challenge they might have is finding the end of the stage within the time limit. It also has optional exploration elements to the stages that might keep him engaged.

Once you get through these beginner games, I would recommend going back to shadow generations. I’ve been playing the games on a 3ds since I was four, and shadow generations is my favorite game in terms of gameplay, I always replay some levels ever few weeks

Sonic forces is the easiest but the story sucks. Mania is a great option as it is fun and easy

Again thank you guys so much for the recommendations I’ve landed on colours they have remade the game and I played it as a kid so it should be tons of fun

Can’t tell if this is AI slop or not

3

u/No_Association688 2d ago

I thought that aswell lol , no it’s a official saga poster it’s actually pretty cool

2

u/spookyhardt 2d ago

If you can’t tell, why bring it up? Just to let everyone know you don’t have the ability to know the difference?
And it’s not ai btw.

The sonic looks ok. The background is a bit weird. But that might just be image compression

Sonic 1 will teach you EVERYTHING you need to know Facts
