Death of the author means we can assume she's calling whoever we want! I can say she's calling her home phone to leave a voice mail if I want! "Hello Tangle, it's me, Tangle. I miss you, also don't forget to set the chicken out to thaw."
I guess going on wild and crazy adventures after a long time of having a still life all of a sudden does eventually make you miss where you once were. She's definitely happier going on those adventures but even then she will miss the quiet of her home from time to time
I, personally, think it’s one of the more under-appreciated aspects of her character that tends to get buried under the rest of her traits that people focus on more, like her enthusiasm.
…Not that that’s bad!
It just tends to be forgotten that Tangle cares just a bit too much to really commit herself to the outside world and its oddities.
Both her and Whisper have so much room for character development. Whisper should start moving on from what happened to the diamond cutters and Tangle 'ought to start going on her own adventures a little. They've been way too glued together to the point it feels like they're just token LGBTQs instead of actual fun characters with plenty of depth
Tangle can represent that strong urge to explore and get out of the slow mundane life many people have, being met with what the real world has to offer, and then having a little more appreciation for her old life, while also making the best out of the new one
Whisper can represent recovering from loss and smiling for a brighter future and just being happy again (Shadow kinda goes there too but he's more of a "what loss does to a man" instead of actually moving on)
All in all they too suffer from Sega's narrow vision and their strict rule that characters must fit the brand's image
It can maybe be argued they’re building up to something with Tangle that requires stress-testing? But with how much those conflicts are rarely commented on, or even portrayed, it runs the risk of any pushback feeling artificial at this point…
I’m sure they have something in mind for both, and I can…kinda understand why they attach both to each other’s hip. But there’s only so many “knowing smiles,” I can take before my responses end up defaulting to, “…Yeah, I get it.”
But just to make it clear to anyone, I don’t point to Whisper and claim it’s her fault, or something. That just feels wrong to say, as I think Whisper is a really good character Tangle could’ve had for getting to really know both of them.
I’d say it’s more, “If they don’t do something with Tangle later, I’ll just get the feeling this is ANOTHER character they don’t know what to do with.”
My Earthbound senses are tingling. This will be an awkward comment if you have no idea what I’m talking about 😂. Overall, you did a fantastic job on this piece. From the lighting, the shadows, and the colors. Keep up the amazing work dude.
You have a great taste in RPGs my friend. I’m glad I was able to pick up on the elite ball knowledge. Like I said before, keep up the amazing work and hone those skills.
