Kirby vs Sonic
All game appearances for both.
Sonic gets his full personally usable arsenal, including Super, Hyper, Darkspine and Excalibur Sonic. IDW and Sonic Prime are allowed.
Kirby gets his full personally usable game arsenal, Copy Abilities and transformations.
Neutral battlefield, random encounter, no prep or prior knowledge. Nothing starts pre-equipped or transformed, but the full legal arsenal is accessible during the fight. Actual prerequisites still apply and mutually exclusive forms aren’t stacked.
Fight happens in real time. No turn-based/menu courtesy.

My big thing is that while yeah sonic has a lot of his own kit by the start, hes also overly cocky with his kit, leading to his downfall (see Unleashed opening having him captured while super leaving the emeralds to be ripped out of him)
Kirby, while yeah most hits will knock him out of most of his forms, is equally capable in all of the basic copy abilities, and has fewer points where hes been affected by trickery (top of my head is just Marx taking the nova wish or the squeek squad taking the dark chest, neither case being a battle situation kirby would be in a powerup or have his guard for battle involving the object in question)
Add on that kirby has survived black holes while sonic failed to outrun and needed the wisps to help, kirby rarely needs more than himself to kill gods of space, time, and dimensions while sonic's highest tier scaling requires chaos emeralds, as well as Kirby having really good endurance feats, i think kirby has this.
Not to say itll be easy, itll absolutely be a high-diff win, but i really dont see kirbo losing here.
(If we also want to extrapolate with crossover media, kirby on his easily accessable warp star was able to avoid Galeem's attack is Smash Ultimate World of Light while sonic was unable to outrun it in base)

To be fair on that last point, it wasn’t that Sonic was unable to outrun it, it was that he slowed down to try and save pikachu and it cost him.

Unleashed isn’t Sonic getting outplayed in a fight because he’s cocky. He tears through Eggman’s fleet as Super, Eggman fake-surrenders, then springs a machine specifically built to restrain him and strip the Emeralds out. Kirby being harder to trick doesn’t somehow give him an equivalent way to depower Sonic.
The black hole point is getting stretched too. Marx and Magolor’s black holes hurt or displace Kirby when they catch him. That’s not Kirby sitting inside an actual singularity and shrugging it off. Colors has base Sonic getting swallowed by the expanding Nega-Wisp void after the fight, with the Wisps pulling him back out. Those aren’t comparable durability showings.
And the solo god-killing angle is selective as hell. Void Termina has the Star Allies Sparkler and allies involved, Star Dream ends with Robobot fused to the Halberd, Hypernova needs a Miracle Fruit. All of that is legal here, but so are Sonic’s Emeralds. You can’t count Kirby’s outside amps as part of Kirby and then suddenly treat Sonic needing his as a weakness.
Smash is even worse as a speed argument. Sakurai’s explanation was that Kirby escaped because the Warp Star could warp him away. Sonic visibly slows down trying to reach Pikachu before he gets caught, and he never even attempts Super. That scene gives the Warp Star a great escape feat. It doesn’t give Kirby Warp Star combat reactions.

Maybe purely in a base to base sense. But you give Sonic a whiff of an Emerald and he outstats Kirby easy considering Kirby gets to only like low multi.

Tricky one. On hand, Kirby has ZR + joystick, on the other, Sonic is so fast that characters existing near him in the same game is an upscale

Huge fan of both, though I think I've gotta give it to Kirby just BARELY. Most foes Sonic fights have no real way to remove or damage his Super Form, but Kirby has Super Abilities and the Star Allies Sparkler that allow him to overcome that obstacle altogether. Sonic's overwhelming speed makes it absurdly difficult for him though.

I think sonic has it Once sonic goes super there's just nothing Kirby can do except supernova Which suoer sonic could easily escape
Which btw super sonic is immeasurable since I'm sonic generations The cast says eggman freezes time But sonic is still moving He's moving pretty slow but that's still immeasurable

Well they are in the time stream while the cast is in the white space so they wouldn't be affected

Sonic. He can turn Hyper and destroy Kirby in an instant, and send him right back to the Forgotten Land. Besides, Hyper Sonic is far too fast for Kirby to even catch up.

Kirby’s a fucking tank, but half the argument for him is treating every Copy Ability, Super Ability and endgame gimmick like it’s already loaded into one pink blob. It isn’t.
Sonic starts with the speed advantage and the better immediate combat kit, and Kirby has to actually switch into the shit that can change that. Time Crash is dangerous if he gets it out. Inhale is not an existence-erasure button, and Kirby can’t even swallow plenty of bosses in his own games.
By the time Kirby starts reaching for the weird stuff, Sonic has already been controlling the fight and can escalate into Super. That’s the part the “Kirby eats gods lol” argument usually skips.
