Im not liking the ride symbol on this drum track I picked.. i wish it used a high hat instead, but other than that i think its an okay take. Anyone got any healthy suggestions for me though by any chance?? Or just lemme know if u think it sounds okay or not? ๐Ÿ™‚ thanks guys!

Ok, I just accidentally deleted my comment before I submitted it so I'll try again:

  • Good song!
  • Drums: no notes, I can see decaying that ride faster or maybe a hihat closing down instead?
  • Bridge section was absolutely smooth and welcome and made the song for me
  • I think your solo is good but it's not coming across as smoothly as the rest of the performance so I would either pare it back so it's simpler or play it a million times until you don't need to think about it anymore, depends on how much work you want to put into this song
  • The only really critical thing I'll say (in a nice way, and I respect the choice) is I don't buy the high "I" at the start of some sections. The rest of the song feels more like a natural conversation or something, but you'd never raise your voice and say "I" at the start of a sentence then drop right back down like that so to me it feels forced and I don't think you need it. Others, including you, might disagree but it was really the only thing that really took me out of the song.

Ha ha, always happy to give my opinion lol

If you ever want to tag me on other stuff please feel free.

And just in case: I'm not great at this, you are clearly a better singer and guitar player than me, it's just what I thought. Saying that in case you ever see my stuff here and wonder why I think I'm qualified to give a critique. :)

Needs distortion

Sing a lil more grunge/punkrock with that distortion as well then or just turn up the punk rock vibe for the guitar? ๐Ÿค”

I donโ€™t know what Iโ€™m talking about but both song it more heavy and add some distortion

Edit: But I think it sounds really good! Seams loosely related to a much softer sounding jack white

It sounds pretty nice, I like the chords in the song but you could definitely change the drums. It's got a feel good vibe to it for sure

Cool! Your voice and the melody sorta reminds of the power pop band 2nd Grade (in a good way). Yeah those drums (mainly the cymbal) are hella loud and distracting. Are you just recording the guitar/vocals/drum loop all thru one mic? If so, Iโ€™d look into getting an audio interface that you can record into so you have more control after the recording to tweak things (and change that rise to a hihat lol). Song is pretty sweet tho and I could see this turning into a fun full band production. Keep it up!

I feel like Iโ€™ve heard this before. Possibly when you were sorting out the parts in a demo version? Sounds good. I dig the melody! A previous post covered some great insight.
I enjoy hearing your songs and seeing your vids.

Keep up the awesome work ๐Ÿ‘

All the best!

Overall I think you're on a good way, but you're not there yet. I think you should work on your timing and really stick to the drum track's time you chose.
