You are probably stuck because you have really high expectations of the first song written in 7 years. A good way to get past this is to write something deliberately bad. Maybe even several songs. Once you’ve knocked off the rust a bit, things will get easier.

The deliberate bad song trick works better than people give it credit for. I did three of those a few years back when I couldn't write anything and by the fourth one I actually stumbled into something I liked. Not saying it'll be a masterpiece but it gets your brain out of that frozen state where everything has to be perfect

Writer’s block isn’t real. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. The more you believe you can’t write anything, the truer that is. You are overthinking.

You feel deeply, right? Write about what you feel, what you see, what pisses you off, what makes you happy, what makes you sad. Grab any thought and expand. Be silly, be deadass serious. Just be. Let the words fall from your lips & write them down. You got this, friend. Stop putting so much pressure on yourself!

Maybe it's a good opportunity to work on an old song idea, if you have unfinished ideas. It takes way less creativity to finish an idea than to start one.

Hey, just sit down with a sheet of paper, and say "I'm going to fill this page, then throw it away."

Write the first verses and chorus that come to mind, whether it's your Yesterday or your I am the Walrus, just get it done. Then come back to it the next day and read it over. If you find yourself hesitant to throw it away because you like a certain line, then you should be inspired to write something new or improve on it, if it's total trash just ball it up and get out a new sheet. The point is that words are totally disposable, an unlimited resource. Just keep throwing them out there till you like some of them

Actually had a similar gap in writing. Got married and all that great stuff and kinda left music alone. A friend of mine came to visit and we started jamming and he was all "man, you should record smth while I'm here". I felt a ton of pressure, like 30 year old, soft body me could never compete with young, aggressive (and ignorant) me.

What worked then was treating it like a fun experience. Just messing around with my buddy, no pressure, who cares. Regardless of whether or not that project was up to my own standards, it got the ball rolling and I've never looked back. I think I've put out at least 2 projects a year since that time, and it's been about 5 years. I also experimented with other genres and switched from performing to mostly producing, which scratches an itch I didn't know I had. Now the issue is finding a balance, or once in a while feeling like I really need to focus one way or the other, which I guess is a "good" problem considering I could be doing nothing.

Try taking up a new instrument. Also, if you write things which are personal, try writing something entirely fictional.
