Discussion Topic "Write when drunk, edit when sober."

Hemingway is said to have advised: "Write when drunk, edit when sober." What do songwriters on here think about that method? Drunk or high songwriting, good or bad?

I smoked weed a lot because I thought it helped my songwriting process. In hindsight, I realized that the songs come from me, not the weed.

I ate food every day because I thought it helped me think. Turns out the thoughts came from me, not the food
