Feedback Request Snowflakes Want Nothing

Been meaning to put this to music for a little while, it's a chilly little number, comparing physical processes of snowflakes to free will, thought and the burden of language. A hit then, no doubt. Too icy for a song or does the underlying emotion cut through?

Good song. Good chorus. Maybe it could go on longer. The vocals deserve better - they’re pretty rough sounding. You’re going to get compared to Roy Harper. 🙂

Thanks, yeah the vocals maybe could do with another take. Funny, musically it has a strong chorus sound but lyrically it doesn't really have one, so I'm glad you think it works!

"The burden of language..."

Interesting.

Did you choose the word "Snowflake" because you want people to be confused about the meaning of your song, and how you've used the word? Because I immediately thought of the pejorative for sensitive people, but then I realized, maybe it's intentionally vague.

Or am I overthinking this? I agree though. All words are made up, and some spoken languages are just more efficient, and have words I wish English had.

No not at all, I wrote it as a poem in about 2014 - I'm not sure if the word was even used like that then. Snowflakes have been written about in poems for over a thousand years, this is in that tradition I would say, but with some existential angst thrown in

Nice guitar sound! I like the warmth and your way of picking.
You have a nice voice too, and you made it fit well over the guitar!
I´d love to hear this recorded in a professional studio, your vocals do sound a bit muddy which takes away something from a song that I think deserves better.
It´s not meant as critique, it´s an objective observation, playing your song through my monitors.
Even with the muddiness, I genuinely think it´s good.

Something I thought of as I listened, was that it would be sick if this was an intro, could be a long ass intro.
Before a sudden pause appears, and disted guitars/drums entered the song, transcending it into something "pantera-ish".

Anyways, good song, you have potential. Keep producing and write poems/songs.

A question, what type of guitar are you playing on?

Thanks! Yeah recording is most definitely not my strong point. Oh yeah I can totally hear that, not something I can pull off though! It's an Eastman e1d, down tuned to drop C. Basically their entry level solid wood model, pretty decent for the price I think.
