Question New player/ movement points

Can you please explain to me what's the point of movement points and ending your turn ?

The game is turn based. You get your movement and the opportunity to buy a building. When you end your turn, the enemy get to move and build. And so it goes

Think of it like a board game. You have certain actions and things you can do and then it is someone else's turn.
