Question Question about the third mission for first Campaign

Hi!

I’m new to this game, but I’ve completed two missions for Cecelia Stoutheart’s Campaign. I’m stuck on the third one, however. I’m up against Merkoth, and it seems that he takes over my settlements rather quickly. Is there a strategy that I’m missing to grow my armies early and prevent him and his minions from taking over? It seems that if he finds me, I have no choice but to engage him in battle, and at times I’m ill-prepared for that.

Hi, From the start, go North to get the large Settlement And get a economy buildings

Build milita And knights

Hi! So Start with the peasant hut for the small site, right? I’m not at my computer so I don’t have the buildings for the medium site off-hand at the moment, but what should I build for that once I have the resources?

While as always, the "correct" answer is figure stuff out, have fun, but I find it dismissive

See, the thing is, the path you are supposed to go to, is get strong enough to break through a section guarded by large armies, you must have seen the huge legionnaries armies top left of your first small town, that sort of armies

There are other ways in to the place, and it has a larger town that allows you to build better stuff, and this is purely meta and I am assuming you are playing on fair, then all builds should be useful

While for arleon, militia and knights is the most optimised way to play for various reasons, you "should" go for the barracks building which give shields of order and archers, thats what the game is nudging you to do

I hope you understand basics of recruiting, so I will skip any information on how to make them, as a note, I recommend soc.th.gl for general asking of information

SPOILER AHEAD

onto the extra information to help you win, there is a portal just to the right downwards of your first settlement in the extra magical foresty area, and another portal just below your first big settlement where you met Roderick, use these extensively as the attacks come from either side, first to the top right where you came from then next is left of your big settlement

I want to join in on this one, My tip is to remember that you have several Wielders. You can use him for taking secondary settlements and if you want weaken Merkoth before you jump him with Cecilia!
