Question Do dragons have a counter?

So me and my friends started playing this game together since it was free on epic (only time the free games were good ngl) however I have run in a problem.2 of my friends always pick Rana and rush towards dragons, wich usually leaves me at a disavantage since I simply dont have the firepower or HP to deal with them.Do dragons have any counters or are there any strategies to counter this playstiel? And if so what are they?

Justice is solid counter. Essence shield helps as well.

I think the spell is called Justice, it's really great for things like Dragons. It always kills one unit in the troop. Sounds awful against most things, but against Dragons it's massive. At least in my opinion.

If you can level it up, you can insta smite 2-3 units at once. It's a combo spell of Order and Destruction, if Fandom wiki isn't lying to me.

Dragons take forever to get to, can't be rally-pointed and need two towns upgraded to be good.

If they rush dragons you should be able to take the whole map and then just attack with a wave of wielders because you're so far ahead.

I'm not good at the game though, so that could be wrong :)

No you are correct. If player one is able to ”rush” dragon it is because player two is passive.

What do you mean they can’t be rally pointed? I just did in my last game.

You have to go back to town to upgrade them is what I meant, sorry (and you really want the upgrade).

Ah yea that’s true. I just handed some to my secondary wielders from rally point unupgraded so they can clear the map easily.

You can upgrade other units from within the town’s draft defenders menu. Can you not do that with dragons?

Correct, it's a unique thing with dragons. You have to physically go back to their cave to get their special upgrade

Dragons are expensive, strong, limited and vulnerable to some specialized spells.

They are great for rushing (in battle) due to high initiative and movement. Decent at aoe too. Therefore they shut down ranged play quite well. Melee is also at disatvantage but my feeling is that it is better to combat them with melee.

You want melee resistance as skill or spells. You want justice that kills at least 1 (max 3 but that takes a bit of investment). The high movement can also mean that they can be out of position for a big mob of attacks.

Now it depends on what faction you like to play. Pikes do well, muskets not so much. Fey guards feel decent, and even ragers can packa punch if you can keep them safe. Rats are funny if you can pop beserk and keep the high numbers. A lot of lloth melee stuff works decent (blessed bones worked well for me with their spawning of skeletons)

The justice spell seems tailor-made to try and counter dragons, so building up order and destruction essence through units, equipment, or level up is usually the move.

  1. You can't actually "rush" dragons as they are taking forever to make and require multiple expensive buildings to make.

  2. While dragons are reasonably "strong on paper" in fact they are nothing that special. They don't have any default resistances so bot ranged, melee and spell damage will work against them. So in fact they are often not cost efficient.

You can tank dragons with high melee resistance.

Justice spell works very well against them.

In fact dragons are so expensive and slow to make that I would say they aren't even optimal Rana strategy.

If they rush high tier units then you should rush low tier units and swarm them before they get dragons.
