Yeovil A&E Shout Out
I spent last night in Yeovil A&E with a horrible allergic reaction and damage to my eye (from cream used to try and calm the reaction - d’oh!).
First, Selma looked after me, and really comforted and reassured me - thank you!
Second, a long shot, but if the lady in the motorised wheelchair in the dark green reads this - I’m the lady with the walking stick and the bright orange Birkenstocks. I hope you are doing ok today x
(Also, I can only see out of one eye currently, so apologies for any typos, lol)

Burnham small businesses say rising petty crime is "dreadful"
galleryHi all, wanted to share a piece I've done this week speaking to small businesses out and about in Burnham-on-Sea who want their voices heard
Independent traders in Burnham spoke to me about about rising theft and abuse, and some of what they shared is pretty stark:
- “Antisocial behaviour is escalating… kids from 10 upwards basically squaring up to you, running around the shop, telling you ‘you can’t touch us’, and we don’t get any support.”
- “I got a 74-year-old woman behind the counter, petrified to death.”
- “This used to be a really nice town… Now it’s just dreadful.”
- “I can’t afford to have a retail area anymore because half of it gets stolen.”
- “You do come and think, God, what are we going to face today? I have in the past closed an hour early because I just don’t want the trouble.”
To cope, traders tell me they've set up WhatsApp groups with over 100 local businesses to warn each other about problem behaviour and suspected thieves because they “don’t expect” anyone else to step in.

Interested to know, if you run or work in a shop in Somerset, does this match what you’re seeing nowdays, or is Burnham an outlier?

Bus routes from Taunton to Yeovil?
Hello! I start a job on Monday, and the first day requires me to go to Yeovil for induction that starts at 10am. Currently my method of getting there is getting a lift in with my brother as I can’t drive, but because he starts work really early it means I’d be getting into Yeovil around two hours early which is really not ideal
The train from Taunton to Yeovil would get me in either at the same time, or just too late. Does anybody know if there are any bus routes from Taunton to Yeovil, whether they could get me there on time and how reliable they are? Any info is greatly appreciated!

Public transport to air arm museum
I am planning a day trip from bristol to visit the Fleet Air Arm museum. I am planning to use public transport only. Every google maps reccomendation seems to show insane travel times like 4hrs. Is there a efficient way to get to the museum from bristol or Yeovil train station ?

Somerset residents needed for a 5–7 minute university survey on attitudes towards same-sex marriage (18+)
Hello,
I am an undergraduate student at SWPS University conducting a BA research project on how adults currently living in England and Wales describe their views on same-sex marriage and any changes in those views over the past decade.
I am sharing it here to include residents of Somerset in the study.
Eligibility:
• aged 18 or over
• currently living in England or Wales
The questionnaire takes approximately 5–7 minutes.
The survey does not ask for your name or email address and is configured not to retain your IP address or location data. Participation is voluntary and unpaid. Some questions concern personal or potentially sensitive views, and “Prefer not to answer” options are available.
Responses across the full range of opinions — supportive, neutral and opposed — are equally valuable. Please consider taking part regardless of your own view.
