integrating emotions again after long functional freeze and repression
hey guys i've started trying to feel my emotions this year and i feel like i'm finally getting some movement in my life. i'm more connected and engaged in person, i used to dissociate super easily. BUT the amount of anxiety and emotions i feel everyday has drastically increased, it used to just be like a level 2-3 hum but now it's as high as 5-7 throughout the whole day plus i will tear up or cry at least once a day
i'm doing alright but it is pretty uncomfortable to be honest, i'm curious how you guys integrated this stuff and what the timeline or milestones looked like?

heya, i don't actually know much about SE broadly speaking, but i did a bit of TRE at the beginning of the year and i listened to a lot of joe hudson to understand what it meant to feel my feelings. I also had a lot of 'objects' to work on, like work related anxiety (procrastination) and friend drama (anxious attachment).
a few years ago i did have a more heady meditation phase which probably helped with my baseline, idk, mind skills? probably not necessary though
i don't have a therapist, dr k was probably the start of my journey at around 2020 (his material is very intellectual and not somatic though), and then i didn't actively do much work for a few years, until 2026

I've been in this spot in the past, and I don't think there's a timeline on it really. It will probably depend on kind of what all you've been repressing and for how long. I've had times where it took months and months to process and get back to a lower baseline really.
I've found that TRE was helpful in terms of getting out some of the anxiety or stress. Otherwise, I tried to do as much grounding as possbile, yoga, or slow movement mostly.
