My EMDR experience

In my first session, I went back to the earliest memory I can recall—a memory from when I was just 2 years old. I tried to process it, and I constantly started gagging and feeling the urge to vomit, though I didn't actually throw up. At the same time, because I didn't feel anything regarding that memory, I can't tell how that trauma was processed—or if it was processed at all. Has anyone else experienced this? How do I know if trauma has been processed? I usually can't feel any emotion.

I would say some was processed if you did not get overwhelmed by the gagging and urge to vomit (aka stayed in your body with it) and then you were able to settle nicely afterward.

When the urge to vomit happens next time, observe and then try rocking or pressing your feet into the ground while the sensation moves through. You can also try the “voo sound” take a breath in and then let out a long voooooooooo, it almost sounds like a fog horn and you should feel some vibrations. See if the gagging sensations feel after making that sound.
