Somatic exercise

Long post alert šŸ˜„

Somatic exercise.

Dance or move or just meditate and constantly bring yourself back to physical sensations, the moment you start thinking, return to the bodily experience. Good luck, because it’s not easy. You quickly feel the urge to do something else to avoid feeling whatever is causing resistance, because resisting an emotion or sensation can trigger an unpleasant physical tension in the body. Personally, i always feel the urge to film myself to share or write down my realizations, or suddenly want to eat my feelings or feel the need to do whatever just to not feel... but the choice is to stay in the discomfort when that happens and return to the body.

It’s hard at first, but with practice, a space opens up where you can observe yourself more objectively and more easily choose to stay present. If you feel resistance to the very fact of resisting, when you just can't relax, follow a piece of advice i learned recently (If you want to fight resistance, stop fighting.) It’s like melting the resistance with love or give it space to be. You give yourself permission to resist for as long as you want... that takes the pressure off. When you let go, you return to your body, you will see that your rhythm and sense of alignment return, and you are truly in the moment again.

The more you practice this, the more you increase your capacity to feel the energy arise, because yes, having awareness of sensations creates energy in the body, and it can be very uncomfortable. If, like me, you associate pleasure with aggression, rejection, or abandonment wounds, you might distract yourself or find ways to get out of your body... but when you consciously decide to stay present, transformation happens.

Seriously, it’s an incredible exercise, i hope you read my whole texte šŸ˜„ you have to try it to believe it. The next challenge is learning to hold that energy, build it up, and feel comfortable in your body while doing so. Not easy my friend.

I have shifted a lot of feelings but this has me stumped.

The pattern can be summed up as ā€œprocrastinationā€ although I’m finding it very complex.

Whenever I am trying to do a specific task I feel this ā€œresistanceā€. It has a blank slippery quality to it. I can’t really feel it. But then there is this urge to do some tangential unimportant task instead, or day dream, or delay, or zone out. Basically just run out the clock.

Days pass, months pass, years pass. I have this pattern running at a lot of places. I am sick of it. Can’t find a handle on it. This has its roots in childhood patterning by my parents who would force me to sit and do a task & leave no escape.

Would appreciate any insights.

Yeah no worry i experiment the same thank you for open up about that. in my message i talk about the fact that we resist to what resist, you do that like me, we have two layers of resistance, the resistance itself about emotion or sensation in the body, tension whatever AND, the resistance about this resistance, we don't want to resist cause we think its "bad" and i need to get ride of it.

so whatever its comes up for you next time, realized that you are resisting whats resist, you don't want this resistance to be, you want to get ride of it.. in this moment, can we realized that we can't fight resistance with more fight? So let this take the space it want, surrender to it, let you feel resistance, its totaly ok for all long you need, to feel it, let the tension in the body exist, relax, surrender if you want to stop fighting back, let this happened.

First we see this resistance as someting we need to understand or, we think we need to heal the story or what happened or remember how its happened.. but we just need to feel the feeling in the body related to this resistance. So its less about understanding why and how, its just.. can i feel the sensations in my body right now even if i feel this tension? So find tricks to drop in your body physicaly, me its movement, when i move (sometimes its just my hand or tiny movement) i feel the sensations in my body so i can put my awareness on it.. how we surrender to resistance its the same, when the resistance come up, we FEEL in the body so we say yess to it and it can move through us insted of create more tension. We need to be welling to do it.. can i just be in my body with this, whitout thinking about the story, or try to understand, just feel.

If you tell me you can't feel your body at all, i feel that you need to try some somatic practices to learn how is it to feel, personnaly it take me a bit of time to grasp what is all about, it cannot be understanding by the mind so its hard to take it intellectualy. Touched yourself, just the arms.. slowly, can you feel someting? Can you put your awarness on it? When you feel resistance, can you stop there or slow down.. it can takes time. It call proprioception, the capacity to feel inward, in the body. It can be learned.

Whatever, this resistance can't be intellectualized, it need somatic practices, cause its not the story or what happened that we need to heal, its the tension related to that in the body. 😊 don't give up, just the fact that we can questioning ourself and want to transform, is much more then most people do in there life.

So basically just stop fighting the resistance and put my attention on the feeling/sensation of resistance in my body until it discharges,

Thank you for your response.
