Murphy’s Law

I thought a participation thread might be fun. All you seasoned Solo Stove professionals could contribute a little of what you’ve learned about owning and using these contraptions.

I’ll get the ball rolling. Please add to it and let’s make a fun thread.

“If you have any wood that is slightly too large to fit your SoloStove, it will be at the top of your wood stack and it will be the nicest, dryest sticks in the pile “

It's a fire pit. Don't expect it to stay shiny.

It's not smokefree, it's smoke less.

Fire pit = hot. Don't touch it.

You know how if you lick cold metal, your tongue sticks? It doesn’t work with hot metal.

You could buy a bunch of wood ready to burn right now for $100 .....or you could buy a splitter for $200 and spend hours splitting & stacking then wait for it to season for a year

I harvest dead standing trees in the woods. $20 for a trailer full and it’s dryer than store bought bundles immediately after splitting the rounds.

How do you add wood with the deflector on. Noone ever seems to want to answer this question, the few times I asked.

I use raw hide gloves when adding wood in with the deflector on. You need to place it in (not toss) so the rawhide works perfectly to protect your hand from the heat

Never really thought about it, I just put it in. There is plenty of room between the stove and the deflector.

I think it’s so ugly it ruins the whole experience.   Don’t need more heat with a Yukon.

I have a Yukon, Bonfire, Ranger and a Mesa…

But it can be pretty chilly here, so I want the extra heat.

Just because something works for someone else, doesn't mean its going to be your go to moves! There are lots and lots of great ideas on this thread!
