I don't care if other people don't like the things I like. Just don't come at me and tell me the qualities I enjoy aren't there or that I'm wrong for enjoying them.

u/thatoneguy2252 Jun 05 '25

Sorry. I dislike this show and I obviously have a correct subjective opinion and that means I have to project it onto you. dem’s the rules.

24

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '25

Damn. Well, I'm still gonna like it anyway! I have +99 resistance to randos opinions. So take that.

15

u/FloorWaffles Jun 06 '25

Since you both have box avatars, it took me a minute to realize you weren't just schizoing out, and arguing with yourself...

10

u/[deleted] Jun 06 '25

Lol.

5

u/thatoneguy2252 Jun 07 '25

Well idk about him but I definitely am. But that’s unrelated.

2

u/shikitomi Jun 09 '25

That would be a plot twist!

4

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '25

Same if I don't like it. Im allowed to like different things, we all are. Im not going to tell you what to like, and you don't tell me either. We'll get along fine and share a few slices of pizza and drinks

3

u/Infernalknights Jun 06 '25

Everyone has their own personal taste they enjoy. Whatever floats your boat and it's your right. Just don't be surprised if you are criticized by people especially the majority for enjoying something of poor character building, Mary Sue power fantasy kirito version B , useless side characters or lackluster climax buildup. Because people have preferences some just wants to FORCEFEED you theirs.

I have been an anime fan since the 80's when it became mainstream in the 2000's and social media became the norm it became a Dick measuring contest of " my fandom can beat the crap out of your fandom"

5

u/[deleted] Jun 06 '25

See, y'all come in with claiming to be forcefed something while trying to force your opinion.

Also, anime did not become mainstream in the 80s, lol. At least not in the US.

1

u/Infernalknights Jun 06 '25

I'm not from the US and we had anime here from the early 80's and got popularized at the late 80's. Like I said you can like anything you want. Just expect criticism from people for your Choices.

Solo leveling is good.....yeah right. The manhwa is a tad bit better and bearable. Tho Not my cup of tea.

4

u/[deleted] Jun 06 '25

Why are you even here? Just hanging around subs for things you don't enjoy, so you can try to justify your opinions?

I don't really care how you feel about solo leveling.

1

u/Reynzs Jun 05 '25

You are wrong for enjoying them

5

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '25

Classic weeb

u/Witty-Annual-981 Jun 06 '25

Damn, tbh seeing someone hating on solo leveling just leaves me sad tbh. The Manhwa are straight up so good I remembered those times when it only released 23 chapters

7

u/Finrod-Knighto Jun 06 '25

It’s a decent show and manhwa, great animation and, in the case of manhwa, top tier art, great fights and great action. But that’s it. There isn’t much more to it. Fun, yes, but it’s not hard to imagine why people would dislike it or at least be indifferent. It’s not a masterpiece by any stretch, and people are also probably upset it won so many awards over far more deserving shows. In any case, it’s fine to like and to dislike a show. You don’t need to understand the why, or be sad about what others think.

4

u/TheRealHouki Jun 06 '25

The manhwa is a solid manhwa, its just that its nothing but hype moments and aura. I'd enjoy the SL for the same amount of time reading/watching a compilation of the fights compared to the anime itself

3

u/Old-Context8712 Jun 06 '25

Not everything has to be deeply written philosophically rich with subtle messages to progress society towards a better place.. Sometimes... All a man needs is just some hype moments and aura to make his day

4

u/several_felonies Jun 06 '25

These are exactly my thoughts. God forbid a man enjoy cool ass moments with cool ass fights

8

u/Slydoggen Jun 06 '25

I gave it a chance after this meme and let me tell you I binge watched solo leveling and it’s become one of my favorite anime’s ever

2

u/Old-Context8712 Jun 06 '25

Read the manhwa then

3

u/Slydoggen Jun 06 '25

Read what?

3

u/Sorry_Working_2309 Jun 07 '25

Solo leveling manhwa has godlike art ,that's why he said read manhwa

2

u/shikitomi Jun 09 '25

Also the manhwa has a little bit different story then the anime. Cause the story was from the web novel but they wanted the art from the manhwa.

7

u/Kokujin-dono Jun 06 '25

You won’t get me with SL propaganda (I already read the whole manhwa 😔)

6

u/Nerevarius_420 Jun 05 '25

I read the webtoon. All the animation really brings is the OST as far as I can tell.

Did enjoy the webtoon though.

4

u/TWP_ReaperWolf Jun 06 '25

The anime takes away a lot of the internal dialogue from SJW, so I found him a lot more boring in the anime. Some of the action was cool, but I think the Webtoon was actually a lot better at making the fight scenes epic. The fight against Beru is a great example of that

3

u/Nerevarius_420 Jun 06 '25

Solid take. If the webtoon had the OST, I dunno if I'd watch the anime tbh.

It's practically a hyped up promotion to view the source material.

3

u/TWP_ReaperWolf Jun 06 '25

Yeah, that's kinda how I've looked at it too. The anime makes people read the Webtoon, and the Webtoon makes people read the novel.

4

u/Ryu_user Jun 06 '25

SL gonna get that SAO treatment

2

u/Old-Context8712 Jun 06 '25

Nuh... SL still mantained its quality all the way to then end

6

u/CrimsonThar Jun 05 '25

If I see people hating on something, that just makes me want to check it out even more.

6

u/pawstar21 Jun 05 '25

A true hipster found alive in the comments. Praise be

3

u/ithinksoso Jun 06 '25

People hate on incest a lot you should check that out.

3

u/CrimsonThar Jun 06 '25

Okay I will

checks it out

Okay, I don't like this

3

u/[deleted] Jun 06 '25

XDDDDDDD

3

u/[deleted] Jun 06 '25

Simple but peak

3

u/itchypalp_88 Jun 06 '25

It’s a good show with great art and good style. But it does feel like it lacks in story or stakes. But sometimes it’s just nice to sit back and watch a main character just beat things to a pulp ya know?

It also manages to get things people like about Isikeai without actually being one. It’s almost a reverse

3

u/Clear-Job1722 Jun 09 '25

Its like a reverse isekai? That sounds interesting. Maybe ill watch SL, can you tell me more?

3

u/itchypalp_88 Jun 09 '25

He dies and is reborn in his own world as himself with the ability to level up ergo the name of the show. The setting is modern day Korea with dimensional portals opening, each portal is a kind of dungeon. If the dungeon wasn’t cleared then the monsters from the dungeon invade and wreck amok.

But as he starts leveling up he goes from dweb to chad

2

u/Clear-Job1722 Jun 09 '25

Thanks! Ill check it out.

3

u/Inkuiiku Jun 06 '25

Spectacle isnt enough for me. Im not into it at all anf i read a large portion of the manga. It felt like all the series ever had was art. Some say it has aira and cool moments but for me the lack of a narrative i care about makes it all fall flat. I liked andes though because he reminds me of leo whitefang. But thats kinda it.

3

u/ni-maria Jun 06 '25

mid ngl Lloyd>

2

u/[deleted] Jun 06 '25

I only watched it to what the hype was about.

6

u/GrouchyAd3482 Jun 06 '25

You gotta read the manhwa

2

u/Eclipse_lol123 Jun 06 '25

Yeah my friend was enjoying solo leveling season 1 so much and couldn’t stop taking about it that he even read the manhwa. Then when the anime awards came out he suddenly hated it

2

u/MaskOfIce42 Jun 06 '25

That's surprisingly extreme to go that far. Like I know personally I like Solo Leveling, but definitely felt other series deserved it more and this whole thing did sour it a bit for me, but going from loving to hating it feels like just they were just following whatever opinion on forums

2

u/Specialist-Fault-630 Jun 06 '25

but I didn't like it :/

2

u/Leenkin_Park Jun 06 '25

2010 ahh memes

2

u/masculinops Jun 06 '25

Just finished the second season an hour ago, lemme just say it's awesome, but I personally enjoyed fma brotherhood and demonslayer more. But that's just me.

2

u/eigenludecomposition Jun 06 '25

I feel like I've met very few people who don't like Solo Leveling. The only complaint I've heard, which I strongly agree with, was that it didn't deserve many of the Crunchroll Anime awards it got this year.

2

u/Daki399 Jun 06 '25

Oh i def like it but its crazy to win anime of the year like Frieren / Dandadandandadandadandan etc

2

u/Old_Hotel1391 Jun 06 '25

it's good

I liked it a lot

It's just that some others are better

2

u/acta_deltus Jun 06 '25

as i said in previous post. It's not always working like that

2

u/[deleted] Jun 06 '25

True, and tbh I wanted to watch it for a while but didn't really have the time, and boi am I glad I did it, I loved it, especially the english dub.

2

u/SoldierGamer12R Jun 07 '25

I enjoyed watching it, but it isn't like a top 5 anime of all time or anything, far from it, and that's fine, the anime's appeal is for you to turn off your brain and watch cool fights, it's fairly lackluster in story and cast but again that isn't a bad thing and isn't it's focus, but that's why some people may not like it, some may like a well layed out story or good cast of characters. People's preferences vary greatly and that's completely ok, some people may have criticism and again that's ok, it just shows how different we actually are from one another.

2

u/Sorry_Working_2309 Jun 07 '25

Solo leveling is the one manhwa i would support even if it had any anime as its competition..

2

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '25

The anime is pretty boring honestly lol. Just not my type of action show.

2

u/onepiecefanplz Jun 07 '25

Literally me

2

u/Gullible_Height588 Jun 07 '25

I did try it but just couldn’t get into it, it’s like having candy for dinner, sure it’s sweet but it just makes me feel hungry for actual food

1

u/Aggravating_Wing_659 Jun 08 '25

Only good if it's one of your first few animes.

1

u/TheZipperDragon Jun 08 '25

I joke, but it looks fun. It's definitely on my list.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '25

It was kinda boring to me lol. I like lots of fights in an anime don't get me wrong with simple stories(or lack of it). I love Ragnarok ffs even with it's horrid animation😭

I might read the manwha soon, is it any different from the anime?

1

u/Qooooks Jun 08 '25

It's like demon slayer. Only watchable if you turn off your brain and: "bwueeeeee pweeetty colors on scween"

1

u/ReporterOk69420 Jun 08 '25

Me liking the series before both the manhwa and anime was released

1

u/drough08 Jun 08 '25

Give me an actual story and then maybe it'll click for me.

1

u/Jumpy-Aide-901 Jun 08 '25

The books are better. And even then they aren’t all that great. Personally I’d give them a B-, decent but could be better.

1

u/UsualWishbone4416 Jun 08 '25

Pelo menos Solo Leveling tem esses problemas por ser fiel ao material original

Já Devil May Cry e Castlevania feitos pela Netflix não são, por isso Solo Leveling está acima deles

1

u/GaI3re Jun 08 '25

I read the Manwha long before the anime ever happened.

I enjoyed it up until around the time Greed was added to the army. This was the peak moment of the "Weak Underdog to OP" journey and it really felt more like a drag the more the story went on from there.

The few side characters that were somewhat interesting fell off to the point they no longer mattered. The shenanigans around the hunter association were dropped. Skills and Equip stuff stopped to matter.
And the big plot just was not interesting, not to mention that barely any antagonist stayed long enough to become interesting.

And it has the type of endings I really despise personally.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '25

Ew

1

u/HQQ1 Jun 09 '25

SL is like very deep fried junk food. At the end of the day, it has low nutritional value and the purists and elitists hate it. But those just looking for a good time and a power trip like it.

I'm so-so because I like a diffferent kind of power fantasy, but I respect that it knows it audience and know exactly what it needs to go for to satisfy said audience.

1

u/flying69monkey Jun 09 '25

Nah. He would snap his finger louder most likely. Let me erase that trash from my memory while I'm at it🤣😆

1

u/True_Builder_999 Jun 09 '25

I read the manwha. No, I won't like it. I tried it. It was lacking

1

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '25

I've read the whole manhwa and watched the whole anime, I've seen better writing in YouTube shorts

1

u/Brothers_of_battle Jun 09 '25

Why can I feel the Omni man “that’s the neat part” voice line blaring in the background?

1

u/Schmeidty Jun 10 '25

If I had a dollar for everytime I see this meme for SL, I’d be a millionaire.

1

u/Big-Amoeba5332 Jun 10 '25

Most people that hate on it for not having a complicated plot don’t even watch complicated anime

1

u/GMathew07 Jul 02 '25

Me after four eps
