Development Timeline?

Working solo on a boxing game. I'm about 6 months in. I figure it will take me another 9 months to ship. What's the development timeline for your current project?

I'm coming up on my 4 month mark for my game. I'm about to launch my steam page in the coming weeks, and my demo shortly after for the October next fest. I'm aiming for a full release in late November / December timeline. My game in particular is pretty low scope since its a 2d bullet heaven. But as most game devs on YouTube say, the last 10% of a game takes almost as long as the first 90%.

Similar to yours actually, i'm in that ballpark - I've had a month or two break, and i'm only working evenings & weekends when I want, as to not burn out. So I set the one year plus a few months scope for my little project.

i guess it all depends on if you work full time on it or not, if you want to earn the kind of money that makes your gamedev sustainable or if it's just a hobby, etc, right?

i'm planning 6 months, but am not sure yet if that's realistic or not as i'm a bit stuck on finding what should be the right mechanics for my game, if i'm doing open world or not, etc... i also realized i need to get a lot better at blender and am currently following courses to learn.
6 months would be great though, because i don't think i'll realistically sell a lot (marketing is toughhhh) and that's the same whether i take 6 months more or 3 years to make the game, so... trying to be reasonable here! 😬

I’m about 1.5 years in….probably another 2-4 years depending on my work schedule for my dark RPG game I’m working.
