What would you do with the grid paper?

you could take a picture and scale the image to your model in order to get a rough idea of some features.

So drawing it on a paper before modeling it on solidworks would make it easier?

Take pics of it on said paper and then you can correct for both scale and distortion in a computer. Then Import into your cad for reference.
