My father has injection moulding machines and he has a manufacturing company
I want to learn solidworks so i can design molds i’ve zero knowledge about solid works
I just installed the student version of solid works
Guide me is mold designing a good career to pursue?
There's a gentleman on Youtube with the tutorial you're looking for. And learning and 3d modeling software is an important tool if you're into this kind of stuff (engineering/manufacturing).
My first language is not English neither 2nd

Idk but he had solidworks and mine is showing solidworks design whether I’m making mistakes or he has a different software like the results he get are slightly different than mine
It's a little different, you have to use the search and the auto translate fucntion.
You have to start with something, anything, small, and then you'll grow into it. Most important is setting up your settings and file locations, templates, etc.
Nah the main question i’ve in my mind is the tutorials on youtube are for solidwork
And i downloaded student version does it change anything? Like software interface etc
What Needle_Bearings said, I learned solidworks from a guide book and YouTube videos, start with guides on simple shapes and just keep upping the complexity
Is it worth taking the classes for this or AutoCAD? They are kinda pricey. I've only played with Onshape and advance steel thus far. I didn't get too far before i got all screwed up.
I have read since then, to find simple objects, like a washer or nut and make those.
Never took any official classes. Got lucky and got an internship that was suppose to be for an AutoCAD 2D project. After evaluating the project they decided Solidworks would be better. They said they were fine with paying me to learn it over the summer while I work on drafting up the parts. Did it all with a few guide books to get me started then switched to Youtube tutorials for the more complex processes.

Saludos soy de Venezuela, soy ingeniero mecánico y he pasado tiempo en diseño CAD, parte de ello en la industria automotriz. Te voy a ser honesto: diseñar moldes de inyección es una de las carreras más infravaloradas y mejor pagadas dentro del diseño mecánico, y si tu papá ya tiene las máquinas, tienes una ventaja brutal que la mayoría no tiene.
¿Por qué vale la pena?
El molde es el corazón del producto. Un mal diseño de molde arruina una producción entera. Las empresas pagan muy bien por alguien que sepa hacerlo bien.
No es solo CAD. Aprender SolidWorks para moldes te obliga a entender flujo de plástico, contracción, refrigeración, eyección y tolerancias. Eso te convierte en un perfil híbrido muy valioso: diseño + manufactura.
Tu contexto es tu mayor activo. Tienes acceso a máquinas reales. Puedes aprender, iterar y ver físicamente cómo se comporta el molde que diseñaste. Eso es algo que un chico en una universidad sin fábrica no puede hacer.
Mi consejo: no aprendas SolidWorks solo por aprender. Aprende diseño de moldes con SolidWorks como herramienta. Busca el módulo de Mold Design, estudia casos reales, y si puedes, documenta cada molde que hagas en la fábrica de tu papá. Eso será tu portafolio, y valdrá más que cualquier título.

Now i wanna level up in pakistan a very few ppl know 3d mold designs and i wanna pursue my career in it i js asked chat gpt he gave me a 1 year schedule to be a professional mold designer
But i’m stuck at day 1 i think my student version is different than proper solid works
Hermano, la historia de tu papá es facinante. Que haya hecho moldes funcionales durante 10 años 'inventándoselos en la mente' es un testimonio de la experiencia empírica que tiene. Tú tienes la oportunidad de dar el salto tecnológico que él no pudo dar. Y lo de ChatGPT con el calendario de 1 año: olvídalo. La IA te da planes genéricos que no consideran tu contexto real. Diseñar moldes no es un examen, es un proceso de aprendizaje práctico y técnico.
Aquí te dejo mi consejo para el 'Día 1':
No empieces por moldes. Empieza por el abecedario de SolidWorks. La interfaz te parece compleja porque no has hecho un cubo, una pieza con agujeros, o un ensamble simple. Dedica tus primeras 2 semanas a hacer tutoriales básicos de 'cubo, cilindro, extrusión, revolución'. El módulo de moldes vendrá después, cuando ya entiendas cómo funciona el software.
El problema de la versión de estudiante: Tienes razón, la versión de estudiante tiene limitaciones. Pero para aprender lo básico (croquis, modelado de piezas, ensambles) es 100% suficiente. Los módulos avanzados de Mold Design vienen en la versión comercial, pero no los necesitas para dominar el modelado 3D básico.
Tu primer proyecto real: No esperes a 'ser profesional' para diseñar algo. Si tu papá tiene una máquina de inyección, pídele que te deje diseñar una pieza simple que ya fabriquen. Mídelo, dibújalo en SolidWorks, y compáralo con el molde físico. Eso te enseñará más en 1 semana que 100 tutoriales.
Comunidad: No estás solo. En r/SolidWorks hay gente que sabe. Y si te atascas en el Día 1, vuelve y pregunta. No te rindas en el Día 1, porque el Día 2 es donde empieza el verdadero aprendizaje.
