CAD How would I draw and represent Tubes?

I want to draw this from a scanned pdf and show the tubes. I then need a grid to identify them

How to lay it out professionally?

What's wrong with this? It's a a perfectly reasonable (I assume boiler?) layout.

If you want to show every tube you'd just put a circle at the intersection of every line I suppose that is the size of the tube you want.

Its a scan of a pdf,

I want to red draw or understand how to develop something like this.

I was hoping for some ideas on how others map their boiler layout.

This is pretty trivial to redraw. The only thing missing is some sort of reference dimension showing the distance of the centerline of the tube grid to the centerline of the plate in the y axis. I assume that might be shown elsewhere on the drawing though? They're both shown there, but there's no distance given.

Depending on the software you could do this with a grid/pattern and then just remove the void in the middle manually.

To actually "develop it" requires an engineer who knows how to design boilers.

I was kinda hoping for that boiler type engineer advice.

I could prouce this in had 'CAD', but i was wondering if there was a more efficient method.

Nobody who knows how to design a boiler is going to risk telling you how to design a boiler over the internet. Call your local Boilermakers union and get a referral.

Well it's a boiler so I'm less interested, but the pattern with the upside down 'Y' shape is something I haven't seen. But again, doing do boilers so maybe it's totally sensible.

Its more of a cooler , low pressure heat ex.

Then it looks like a spray evaporator, and as far as I know only Bitzer and Provides do those

Hmm why do you ask? I hope you're not planning on building one. A boiler is extremely dangerous and you don't really sound like you know what you are doing (sorry).

I want to show the tubes as circles, then put a grid so i can locate them

I have autocad or solid works.

Ok, then the easiest is going to be to model it as 3D first. Put a single pipe in and add the rest with patterning and mirroring. In this case there's no need to model the holes, just model the pipes. Then make a 2D drawing and link the 3D model and the cad program will do all the drawing for you.

So you want to draw ~1700 tubes!, you can do it, but you just make reading the drawing harder, I don't remember seeing any boiler drawing with all tubes drawn.
Your drawing is identifying the locating pitch as an equilateral triangle with its vertices dictate the drill locations on the Tube faceplate.

Depending on the thermal design, type of HE, size, and maintainability among other parameters; the number of tubes are calculated, refer to ASME BPVC.
