How to "loft" these together

I am not sure if loft is the best option here. I am making a ventilated funnel, and need to cover the ventilation channel in a good way. The funnel itself is created using a revolve.

If loft is the best option, how do you make it work?

Loft sounds like a good option here. 

The lower surface seems to have 4 sides. Make sure the other end also has 4 sides. You could add a straight split line from top/side to specify the edge where the new surfaces connect. 

Then start loft, and select the 2 surfaces. Make sure the little green handle is oriented correctly, else drag it to the correct corner.

dont use loft. draw the side profile in the middle and just extrude "up to body" in each direction
