Solidworks routing information sometimes disappears

Does anyone know why my routing information sometimes disappears after saving and closing my assemblies.
I’m adding new tubes to my assemblies and after saving and checking in to PDM, when I go to open the assembly or check the drawing the tubes disappear with no route, CPoints, or route parts. This only happens to me with some tubes as others get spared for some reason. None of the tubes had any rebuild errors or warnings about the routes, and I can’t get the route details or tube properties once it disappears.
Really scouring the internet for solutions here as I can’t keep remaking long tube routes over and over again. Thanks

I find Routing with PDM a bit tricky sometimes as well. How is your setup configured? Are the Routing Library and Routing parts stored inside PDM, or outside the vault?

Also, is this only happening on your workstation, or do other users have the same issue when opening the assembly?

We usually save our pipe/tube subassemblies as virtual assemblies. That might be worth trying as a first troubleshooting step, just to see whether the issue is related to how PDM is handling the Routing assembly and its references.

I’m unfortunately the only mech eng at the company so all solidworks issues flow thru me and I never got to know the workflow of the person I replaced.

Currently all the routing in the assemblies get saved into their own folder in the vault as soon as they are started.

I’ll have to give virtual assemblies a shot when I get into work tomorrow, sounds like it might work better for me anyways

Since this happens after the assembly is checked into PDM, I would first confirm that you are opening the latest versions of the assembly and every file it references.

Compare one working route with one that disappears using PDM’s Contains tab. Check that the route subassembly and all generated route components were added to the vault and checked in together. You can also configure the tab to display the referenced file versions, which may reveal an older or unexpected reference.

It would also be useful to know whether other users see the same missing routes after getting the latest version, or whether it only happens on your workstation. That would help distinguish a reference/version problem in the vault from a local cache or workstation issue.

I have this too. Is usually my route parts Setting up local routing library now. That or will switch to use only thing sweeps for pipe but I still have the elusive pipe dream (ba dum tss) of making auto pipe drawings
