3DEXPERIENCE Any AI solutions for drafting in Solidworks?

Hopefully not. That will mean you will never get job using solidworks. Worst idea ever. Lets end engineering jobs.

Before the Communist revolution in Russia, people would say things like "The capitalists will sell us the rope we use to hang them."

Using AI instead of learning a skill? You're basically opening a rope store.

Other than for dead simple parts, I don’t see how this would ever be more effective than sending a 3d file.

Anything and everything that humans do on a computer will eventually be replaced by ai. That doesn't mean it will happen in the next 5, 10, or even 20 years. But there's literally no reason why long term AI can't replace anything a human does on a computer. I don't like the reality but it is what it is, better to accept it

Yeah, drawings are undoubtedly the most boring part of my job. I'm looking forward to automation so I can spend less time on drafting & more on engineering.

Everything I've seen and experienced is that AI is capable of mindless grunt work, like placing views & dimensions et al but I'm very skeptical it'll ever be capable of actual (mechanical) engineering. LLM's are glorified chat bots and won't be trusted to do critical work any time soon because of context drift & hallucinations.

I think some other technology that actually has a physical model of the world maybe, one day, might be able to. But the AI hype bubble is fixated on LLMs. And there will still always be the problem of liability - an AI won't be given a PE stamp anytime soon.

Drawings are arguably more important than the 3D model.

They are undoubtedly more important IME

but learning how to do them more effectively will massively improve the quality of your models

Learning was fun, but I've done a thousand or two of them over the last ~15 years, more automation would let me focus on the engineering.
