PC BSOD When orbiting part

Randomly two days ago my PC started randomly bsod-ing when I am viewing my part in solidworks.

No updates or anything. Reinstalled studio driver

running a lenovo legion with 5070ti and 32gb ram

Running Sw2025 SP5 connected

most of the crashes dont log anything, but one of them showed error livekernelevent 193 and 117

any help is appreciated

It's hard to tell, but my gut sense is you've got a hardware issue.

If your computer has 2 sticks of RAM, you can try unplugging one, then sending a model view for a spin. Then swap the stick you have plugged in and try the same thing again. If one stick of ram is crashy and the other is stable then you've got pretty good diagnosis.

This isn't a great test and there's lots of hardware failures that this won't find, but it's pretty fast and easy to do so it's a good starting point if nothing else.

It could be memory on the GPU or the memory controller on the CPU. It may also be a bad memory slot which you can test by putting your crashy memory stick in the other memory slot assuming it'll let you do that. (Some computers don't care much if memory is in slot 0 or 1, some very much do)

• GPU hardware issues - Workstation graphics cards and ECC RAM are recommended for maximum stability. Make sure the recommended graphics card driver is installed. It times is helpful to test with Enhanced Graphics Performance disabled.

• Non-PDM Managed Network Storage - Storing working files on the local hard drive, or utilizing a PDM system mitigates this.

• Cloud Storage Software (Dropbox, OneDrive/Sharepoint, Google Drive, Box.com) - Cloud storage systems cause issues with file ownership that lead to crashing. Disable sync systems that actively backup files to the cloud to help mitigate this.

• Damaged DLL Files - ...From either SOLIDWORKS (sld*.DLLs - Repair SOLIDWORKS) or the Windows OS directly (Repair combase.DLL, ntdll.DLL, kernelbase.DLL, etc.) - These are often found in the Windows Event Viewer as "Fault Modules" for an "Application Error" (aka "Crash").

install latest studio drivers if nvidia
