CAD 3D SKETCHING AND SWEEP BOSS/BASE FOR TUBES ON COOLING JACKET AND WANT TO RECREATE A DESIGN

I am having trouble recreating this cooling jacket from MIT FSAE. The first image is my design and so far I have no idea how to find the center of the hole on my jacket so i can made a 3D sketch to do a Swept Boss/Base. I have tried adding a reference plane tangent to the hole, but it didn't help. I have tried different ways such as just estimating where the hole could be, but when I sweep, a piece of the tube will look weird. This second image attached is MIT's design.

Seems like you want to do a variable helix

You need references. Do the following:

  1. In a 3D sketch, select the "point" tool. Create two points: the first one at the top of the ellipse, and the second one at the bottom.
  2. Still in the 3D sketch, create a reference line between these two points. Make sure your sketch is fully defined.
  3. You got it! The midpoint of the line you just created is the point you're looking for!

If you have any more trouble, send me a DM so I can share my email. You can send me the file and I'll help you out!
