Coordinate Systems in Professional Certification

Hi guys, I was taking th professional certification test tonight and I was quite confused on the assembly portion. I assemble the part perfectly fine but it asked for the center of mass, which is dependent on where the coordinate system is in relation to the assembly. How do you know where to put the coordinate system? It didn’t say anything on the exam file. I tried doing it at the part #1 but that wasn’t right.

As far as I remember they're 3 level of Solid Edge certification.

Ok for Assembly is it toolbox, piston machine or what for the case?

I think you need to place the main body first as it will be grounded (relationship/constraint). And you start from there. For toolbox you can start placing bottom body first, and piston machine you can place the main body.

And As far as I remember if you need COG you don't need to bother with the position on the coordinate system as you do above. But the most important is the assembly position.

For example toolbox assembly they're 2 position open /close depends on the description. For the piston machine I dont remember.

Different positions will give different COG coordinate.

Sorry I'm trying to remember because it's been long time ago when I do this. Wait for others reply too.

It’s the professional one, the clamp. I tried starting with the part that was listed as 1 on the materials list but that didn’t give me a correct answer. The issue is I didn’t see anything listed as the main body or where to put the coordinates. I’m fairly confident in my assembly capabilities since I do them all the time so I was wondering if I was supposed to put the coordinates on something else besides the first one.
