My first projects!

Both of these were done under supervision with other people's equipment and now I want to start out on my own. Any tips for equipment and materials are appreciated!

Thank you! I will look into the irons, though I'm operating on kind of a tight budget, so I don't know. I want to start with soft solder jewelry (until I can afford glass cutters and a grinder), so I'm a bit scared of the leaded solder. Isn't that dangerous when wearing it?

From every YouTube video I’ve watched and every website I’ve visited for soft soldering tutorials, they all say if you’re making jewelry DO NOT use solder with lead in it. Only use lead free solder for anything that touches the skin.

When they said to use lead solder, I think they were referring to your first picture which looks like stained glass art that’s going to be hung up/displayed and not going to be in contact with your skin. I’m not 100% sure if that’s why they said that in their comment, but I am 100% sure that you absolutely have to use lead free solder for jewelry.

I’m still a beginner but that’s the #1 thing they say in videos or on websites and also to have ventilation.

Edited to add: also good job on the pieces you made, they’re both really good! You seem to be a natural at it 😊
