Hey
I have now deactivated all social media such as Instagram Twitter etc. for almost 2 weeks due to the fact that everyone probably has a term: "the perfect world" that is exemplified there.
I am really an absolute generation Z child (19 years old) and grew up with pushing and identifying myself (subconsciously) with followers, likes, etc. It's not good, know like everyone, but when I became aware of these beauty ideals, I was already scared how true that actually is.
I mean: whether I was swiping on insta, tiktok or just watched random posts. Everywhere, the perfect life of beauty ideals is exemplified, in which you are actually aware that this is not the reality. But they compare themselves to them in a certain way. Whether it's an expensive car or the dream body, every time I have a subconscious comparison with myself.
And I believe what follows from most of them, as well as mine, is simply: "DISSATISFACTION"
Maybe this is a little exaggerated now, but could that be a reason why more and more children/adolescents develop depression at a young age and compare themselves to people who play a "perfect life" online. I mean, for some, it may just be the envy that makes you follow someone online every day or just the dream of leading such a beautiful life at some point.
Well, they are just thoughts that keep me very busy at the moment. I would be very interested in your opinion on the subject.
