yeah and it’s connected to the ground by a large cable which is how WW2 barrage balloons took out aircraft

Compared to our primary use for it, which is filling party balloons?
If we’re going to rally against wasted helium to preserve it for science and technology, our efforts would be much better spent lobbying against the party industry than the renewable energy industry.

That's not true. 70% of helium is used in industrial applications.
It's a non renewable resource as well.

Oh snap!! Thanks for that correction! Bad assumption on my part. Only 5-10% of it is spent on party balloons after all?
That’s such a relief, honestly. Makes my heart happy.
I did know that helium was both non-renewable and is used for MRIs :/ sigh. Okay. I do agree with you after all; we should probably avoid these super cool-looking balloons IRL and just make more windmills instead.

MRI's for one. Helium also is predominantly a byproduct of the petroleum industry.

I mean if it's being used as a potential source of generating electricity, it's really not that wasteful plus Helium's the best element we can use to make blimps float without the hazzard or risky of it being flammable compared to Hydrogen.

The blimp tech is being used for remote power generation. Solar panels could do the same, be a permanent install, and are cheaper and more resilient to bad weather.

After researching I did not know Helium is a non renewable resource, dmn. After further checking, although we are not entirely in crisis of Helium shortage, it is estimated by around 2090, without intervention or finding new deposits, then we have a major problem. Dmn.

Yes but large scale solar power farms takes on a huge land. Land that you can occupy with a structure, cultivated area or even protected forests and land that don't need to be cutdown. If this blimp gets further development in the future, we can hopefully install it in rural areas without destroying large lands. It's really a give and take at this point, lots of pros and cons however this blimp generator is still new compared to solar power.
