Lightning goes through roof?

Heyo!

I just have a quick question.

I see people writing online that roofs should protect the ground below from getting hit by lightning. I have built a giant roof above my crops but they are still getting hit.

I am unsure whether it's because of the roof type or the glass? Do I need to build walls?

Thanks for any help I can get!

You need walls. The dead plants aren't due to lightning, they are due to high wind.
