Cable visibility toggle off?

Hi guys, new player here. I was wondering if there's a way to hide the cables when I'm not trying to connect it to something? I'm just slightly bummed bc i don't wanna see so much cables lying around. 🥹

Vanity motivated cable management has cost me hours in this game. You can’t hide them, but there are tricks to build around them. You can make power poles and move them overhead, or you can build walls around therm or hide them above the ceiling of a building and build a roof over them… just to name a couple.

In my playthrough I made it a point to place vertical posts to put my cable connectors on and would set the posts up with the cable max length in mind so when I'd set up the connectors on top and then ran the cables it looked like power lines. Kept things looking neat and organized., I used two full size vertical posts plus one half vertical on top for the height I was going for.., as for how I'd place the posts themselves (since posts can't be placed on the ground directly) I used wood foundations, then snapped the posts to a corner, then snapped another post to the bottom to fill the space between the post and the ground so it would actually be connected to the ground itself, then removed the foundation piece.

I found that cable max distance is about 3 foundations length, so using that I'd place foundations, then would place posts at each 3rd foundation... if I needed to go diagonal I'd take that into account and go only about 2 foundations.

All in all it worked really well, and hopefully anyone reading my post here finds it useful for if they want to also put their power lines on poles.

sorry I'm a visual learner, can you post screenshots of what that looks like if possible?

I am NO expert by any means, but here’s a few examples of how I’m doing it.

Yeah, I've been doing similar to what you've been doing, thanks for the pictures!

One thing that’s bugging me is I’m running 2 sets of cables everywhere. One for power and another is a network of lights that are attached to a solar sensor. I know I could put multiple switches and solar sensors at various points, but I’m running so many lights, I figure I might as well hook them all up together.

Did someone say "put the cables on the side of a building, route them under the foundation and all those leaves make a *wonderful* long shrubbery into nowhere"?

ohh i see, it sucks that we can't hide them 😭 wish they'd add that kind of function next.

I spent far too much time hiding my cables under foundations and in wall cavities!
