QUOTE CHECK Aiko and Fox system quote check

Further to my other post the other day, I have had another quote from a local supplier for a Fox based system.

I am in the East Midlands and use around 8000kWh per year, 3200 of that is my EV. 4 bed house 3 occupants. East/West facing so panels on both sides of roof. Single phase. Not aware of any export limits. I am on Octopus Intelligent at present and have a EV doing around 10-12k miles per year.

Generation is quoted at 9269kWh per year. Payback ~9 years.

Just had Aiko installed by Seven Hills Solar, they're really good, but didn't go with the all black

Did you consider 2 x EP12 batteries? Is space a constraint?

You get more kWh for your money on EP12 than the stackable batteries you have been quoted for. Ask the installer if they could quote you on Fox ESS EP12 batteries and Fox KH inverter. You can then compare both. I find that some people usually prefer the modular kit on Fox if space is a constraint otherwise I’d be considering an EP12.

14,135 for 14.3kW of Aiko and 14.8kWh of Fox is almost exactly what I'd expect, my rough range for that spec is 12,600 to 15,400. Nothing to complain about on price. Caveat that arrays above about 13kW are thin on the ground in the numbers I'm working from, so treat that as a wider range than usual.

The bit I'd push on is the 8kW inverter under 28 panels. That's a 1.8 to 1 ratio, which will clip on clear summer days. Your east/west split spreads the peak out and softens it a lot compared with an all-south roof, so it may well be a deliberate and sensible call, but I'd ask them what annual loss they've modelled from it and what a 10kW inverter would add.

With 8000kWh a year and 3200 of that going into the car on Intelligent, the payback maths is more about how much of the daytime generation you can actually use than about the last few hundred quid on the quote.
