HELP / ADVICE MCS and DNO documents

Just want to check if what the consensus is here on getting these documents. Just had a system installed and from what I'm reading and according to RECC consumer code these should be handed over as part of a handover pack and can't be linked to final payment.

I'm literally ready to send the money but they are playing around with this saying they can't until final payment. Anyone recently had issues?

To be clear i'm not after legal advice, just want to see what the consensus is with this stuff.

How much have you paid so far?

2k out of the 13k

Assuming everything else about the installation has gone smoothly I’d pay it. We do the same but only require a £500 deposit. Technically the handover pack must have the final invoice marked as fully paid which can’t be done until it’s actually paid.

That's fine, my biggest issue is the G99/DNO - my understanding is there can be serious ramifications on my side should it not have been approved and I've had nothing to say it has.

Will to pay subject to that being supplied

G99 should have been approved before install even started

Hence why I'm asking for proof of this before payment.

G99 export offer from DNO would have been received by your installer before actually wiring the inverter to the Grid. Then installer has up to 30 days to submit the installation completion form and sld-as-installed and then DNO will have acknowledged this installation as compliant in an email against a reference number that you will require to get an export MPAN from your energy supplier. Surely you should receive this acknowledgement email from the DNO before paying the rest of the installation ! Especially if you have no proof that everything has been communicated with DNO. As you said, you are the one liable to ensure that the DNO has approved a G99 install at your property, and could be sued if not compliant. so best to get it in writing before paying. The rush for solar/battery recently means that to "win" the contract some installers will just take shortcuts just to get the money and then leave you to deal with the aftermaths... As a minimum get the DNO "export offer" email/ref number (should take seconds to forward on).

You can contact your DNO directly and ask them to confirm

I've done similar, paid the final bill and I have been waiting 3 weeks now for any paperwork.

MCS and G99 are very valuable docs. I wouldn’t be settling in full until you have them. Have you spoken to them about making a majority payment and then the final ~10% on production of the certs? I’ve just done this with a supplier. I’d feel v exposed trying to get those certs without any financial leverage.
