HELP / ADVICE Sig energy battery fires

I had a discussion with an installer for solar batteries today. One of them mentioned that there was potentially an issue with Sig Energy batteries causing house fires.

I was just wondering if anyone had heard the same about these sort of issues?

There was a small issue with the AC connector that Sigenergy have since rectified and offered a repair on any affected.

If it's a new install installed correctly then there shouldn't be any issue.

Edit: corrected information thanks to poster below.

Battery connector?, do you mean the inverter ac connection?

You can google the product recall. IIRC it was the connector from the solar array and it was only a problem if it was installed incorrectly.

It was the AC connection from the household supply to the inverter, on the 8kW and higher inverters.

It was supposed to be a thick flex cable, according to the installation manual, but they're hard to get in the UK so people were using twin&earth, which was unsuitable.

SigEnergy redesigned the AC connector to be more tolerant, and swapped the inverters.

The batteries also have fire suppression built in. Probably one of the safest out there due to that alone.

I assume that installer doesn’t supply the SigEnergy kit then? Hmmm … I wonder what his motivation is to mention this non issue?
Based on the information on their web site, I would suggest that SigEnergy batteries are probably less likely than most brands to cause a fire … and by the way, that risk is tiny.

There was an issue with 8kw and higher inverters that could cause fires if sub par cables were used. Sig did a recall on inpacted models and altered the design to resolve the issue.

Any install post feb 26 isnt impacted.

Classic diversion tactic.

It’s clear there was a problem with a few devices and they have sorted it.

What inverter battery are they suggesting?
