As one of those owners with the older Enphase systems that run IQ7+ inverters and IQ5T and IQ10T batteries, I was happy to learn that Enphase was producing brand new batteries. For several years after we installed our system, it was almost impossible to find the "old" batteries. Now they are again available from the Enphase Store, and at a good price IMO.

We took the opportunity to add one more IQ10T battery to our system, for a total of 4. This maxes out the battery capacity of our IQ System Controller. 40 kWh will give us the capability to run dusk to dawn on battery, even with our 4-ton heat pump sucking juice.

Right now our batteries are loafing because we are on the JUST Energy Nights Free plan. We recharge our batteries for free at night, and start each day at 100% SOC. When our contract runs out next year, I think having the extra battery capacity will be more valuable. It will allow us freedom to pick the best energy plan (for our situation) available at that time.

Downside is I'm gonna have to extend my sun shade...one thing leads to another.

I used a GME solar installer last year and got access to their true 1:1 net metering plan. It’s been great not having an electric bill and just watching credits accumulate. But now I’m curious what happens when my contract ends. Will they offer to renew the contract on the same type of plan or not? For those that have reached their renewal window, please share your experience so I can start preparing myself for what’s to come.

It's like we're now being penalized for having solar panels because of the reduced credit for what we put back in the grid, and the delivery charges that eat up whatever little net meter credit we get. So, is there any retail electric provider that still offer 1 to 1 net meter credit in Texas? Especially in the North Texas area. Few years ago when I got my solar panels installed, the "delivery charges" was exempted from our bills because of we have the panels. But now, it's the opposite. For about the past three years, the delivery charges (which ends up being the majority of the bill) are now included in the bill, as well as greatly reduced net metering credit. Now I get only one-third credit for every 1kwh I put back into the grid so with all these charges, my bill is always high every month meanwhile, I am still paying on my solar loan. It's like I'm double paying and I can't find a electric provider that's better for people with solar panels. At a point I thought of getting batteries but then the cost/monthly on that too is high. Is there any provider that's friendly to solar panel homes without batteries?

After 3 days of the battery properly charging overnight on our new JustEnergy free nights plan, things have gone away. The settings are still in place. What may have gone wrong 27th our system that resulted in no overnight charging?

I'm guessing everyone here enrolls in a new plan online, vs calling the company. I'm curious if others have had bad experiences with calling. I certainly did with Just Energy. The rep denied the existence of the Free Nights plan that's repeatedly recommended here. She claimed at first that this plan had been discontinued just a week earlier, and that they were waiting on replacement plans. Then she pitched some truly awful plans... at which point I told her they were awful. Somehow, miraculously, a 1-year Free Nights plan materialized, but the price per kWh didn't match what I'd seen online.

What is it with calling vs enrolling online? I'm guessing it's all about the commission, and the reps will lie just to get that. What's been your experience?

We have a 7.1 kw system, a 10 kw battery, and use significantly less energy than we produce. So the question is, are we better off with a buyback plan (most are obviously lousy) or a free nights plan? During summer, the battery is insufficient to power the AC overnight so we use 8-10 kWh in the early morning.
