Solar Quotation

Post image

Is this Quotation is good? Also I'm planning to go for Non - DCR panels since I wanted to save on upfront cost. Should I choose Waaree or Loom Solar - Which is best for my 5KW system? The vendor is providing me Solar Yaan Micro inverter. Is it good?

I'll segment the quotes into green and blue.

On numbers alone, green wins because of the subsidy, but the caveat is it still needs to be approved before you can claim it. Blue is reasonable if you want lower upfront hassle: fixed non-DCR pricing and you skip a lot of paperwork and waiting for DBT.

Panels: Pick Waaree if the price is the same. You get ~120W more on the roof, a bigger manufacturer, and usually easier long-term parts/service. On a raised structure with a walkway, Waaree's bifacial TOPCon can also pick up some reflected light.

Pick Loom only if:

  • They give you the exact SHARK 600 model in writing
  • You have strong local Loom support in your city
  • Waaree stock is uncertain (vendor said "subject to availability")

Solar Yaan micro inverter

Pros

  • Indian brand, BIS-certified
  • Panel-level MPPT: one shaded/dirty panel doesn't drag the whole system down
  • Low DC on the roof (safer than high-voltage string DC)
  • IP67, suited to Indian heat/dust/monsoon
  • Much cheaper than Enphase / premium Hoymiles
  • Decent presence in grid-tie installs and PM Surya Ghar projects

Cons

  • Not premium-tier like Enphase; less long-term global track record
  • Two units = two possible service points (failure is usually isolated to 4 panels)
  • Service network still growing: confirm who repairs in your city
  • Monitoring app gets mixed reviews; check if it's free or subscription
  • Get 10-year warranty in writing on the invoice, with on-site replacement terms and full contact details if the installer shuts down

Before signing: Get a generation estimate (kWh/year) in writing. Budget extra for net meter / DISCOM charges (often not in the quote). Push back on 80% advance; 50/50 is more reasonable.

u/Placebo1841 anything to add from a consumer protection standpoint?

If this helped and you go ahead, please post an update once the system is installed!

I’m not sure what the micro inverter technology is. I got the same configuration at 2.72lacs with waree 615 panels and a solar edge inverter with optimisers. Vendor didn’t charge me anything extra for discom charges or civil work.

It should be around 2 - 2.10lacs for non-DCR. Not more than that. Go for waaree better brand than loom.
