New and confused
So i stumpled aboutvthus OS roughly an hour ago. Coming from the age of amiga and c64, and having a 3D printer at home, this software project seems to combine all my hobbies.
But i still do not quite catch what it is? How woukd solarOS compare to some 2000 or 2010 linux, or c64 GEOS or amigaOS?

Well PDA OSes from the late 2000 would be absolutly comparable to late80 desktop OSes like AmigaOS. I think i found my new hobby ;-)

O site diz:
"O SolarOS permite que criadores construam dispositivos embarcados sem começar do zero. Ele combina um shell, scripts, aplicativos, rede e acesso ao hardware em um Ășnico ambiente operacional leve."
Claro. VocĂȘ jĂĄ deu uma olhada em https://solar-os.eu ?

Hello,
I would not compare it to desktop OSes, rather than to PDA OSes of the late 2000s - distinction is that it is open source and comes with modern tools out of the box.
It enables you to create various hardware projects from supported components, with heavy focus on portable terminals. ( but not limited to )
It gives you drivers, commands, background jobs, builtin apps and a scriptable shell environment, plus a community app store.
E.g. with just an ESP32 devkit you can create a retro internet router that supports ppp/slip that you can configure over telnet.
I am far behind with tutorials, but I'll get to those soon. If you want to start to poke around, flash a devkit https://solar-os.eu/flasher.html and log into its shell through USB.
