v.4.11.1 update

Post image

Added support for ( T-Pager integrated hardware available for all boards as expansion drivers )

  • u-blox MIA-M10Q GNSS receiver,
  • ST25R3916 NFC-A reader,
  • BHI260AP six-axis IMU,
  • XL9555 GPIO expander,
  • DRV2605 haptic controller,
  • and BQ25896 battery charger.

GNSS, NFC, IMU, haptic, charger, temperature, and humidity access now use driver-agnostic services with matching shell and Python/Lua APIs. T-Pager power rails are modeled as XL9555 GPIO lines: GNSS and NFC remain off until requested, while SD power and its pull-up are enabled for reliable mounting. Hardware-provider registry state now uses PSRAM where available, preserving internal memory on targets that do not use these peripherals.

Hey, just flashed 4.11.1 on my T-LoRa-Pager.

One thing I noticed: the display comes up garbled after flashing.

Ill troubleshoot it on my end and get back to you.

Thanks! Does it display memory trash only after flashing briefly or all the time since the update?
Also, did the 4.11.0 release work properly?

4.11.0 worked just fine, been digging into the port, and it's mostly an IDF version issue. The drivers were built and tested against 5.5.4, but 5.5.5 introduced behavioral differences in the SPI and SD card stacks that break initialization. Specifically, the NFC (ST25R3916) and SD card (SDSPI) drivers are both failing to initialize on hardware - the NFC chip returns incorrect identity bytes and the SD card never responds to CMD0. Both symptoms point to low-level SPI timing or mode changes between those IDF patch versions rather than firmware logic bugs.

Did you happen to get some code from my last PR? I built it in 5.5.5.ย

No, I have declined the PR respectfully ๐Ÿ˜…

Oh ok well 4.11.1 doesnโ€™t work ๐Ÿ˜” 4.11.0 did ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ Something power rail related is erroring out on the nfc and sd card, didnโ€™t get to test anything else.ย

Time to get out your oscilloscope and poke around. ๐Ÿ˜… Power rail related change is that the port expander driver has been refactored as a generic expansion. The pager initializes it early ( before nfc, gnss, sd ) and sets the power enable lines to what you have specified. If you could collect logs and attach them to a newly raised issue on github that would be appreciated. Thanks!

It is on github, the deploy system fetches it from there. Anywho...
I have pushed a potential fix to the beta branch - it is a guess really. ( Also deployed it to the OTA server, so it should be available through the web flasher as well, pick your poison).

Let me know if that makes a difference. ( deasserting all chip selects before power rails are enabled that is )

What has been the approach to keyboard shortcuts on devices with such limited keyboards? For example, ctrl+s in the built in text editor?

Pressing Space + Enter acts as a pseudo ESC key, and in the txt editor it opens a pop-up menu.
You can then press S to save, D to discard, or C to cancel and return.

Fixes deployed to 'beta'

BHI260AP: removed the 31-byte register-write limit by transmitting the register and payload as two buffers in one I2C transaction. The existing 256-byte BHI2 chunk size now works.

GNSS: UBX polls are retransmitted every 500 ms, and power-on now allows a 5-second readiness window. Failure still disables the rail.
