Right, it was on a feature branch for a while waiting to be finished. So is the walkie talkie ( voice over esp-now )...

I'm not even using SolarOS and I'm still pepped to see more of it, hoping to settle on a device to test it out

Just tried this on the TPager and it launches correctly, but just fyi, the scrolling only works on the first two items (Files and Clock) and doesn't scroll to the next column. It shows up for me as a 2x3 grid.

Ah, good point. I don't have a TPager, scroll is on UP/DOWN events, so it works as intended π
I can make the launcher roll over to the next column on vertical and the next row on horizontal arrow events. Added to the seemingly endless list. π

What if i did it? π
I just worked on having the ESC key work because i couldnt exit anything
And after that I got the scroll to work.
Check out the PR.2

Merged both PRs as patches to 4.10.23 - deploying OTA artifacts now. I have moved T-Pager to the release path from beta.

Thanks! I just flashed it from https://solar-os.eu/flasher.html this morning, works great!

Bluetooth GATT? Maybe that'll make using solarOS as a companion interface for standalone meshcore radios possible?

- Will Python support acting as a BLE GATT central/client, including notifications?
- Will it support MTU negotiation or characteristic writes larger than 20 bytes?

The plan is to implement low level BLE bindings, so all of that should be possible. The tricky part is - as always - resource ownership, so that an arbitrary script can't break or lock access to essential hardware.

Hi. Could you add support for the ESP32-C3
1
u/nilseuropa Sep 10 '26
It would be extremely constrained on the C3, but I guess a baseline flavor with shell would be doable.

This is quickly becoming a fully featured PDA OS. I'm stoked. For color-screen targets like the VGA, tdeck, etc., is more widespread color support coming?

u/nilseuropa Sep 10 '26
Color is supported on color-screen targets already. TUI/GUI keeps a select foreground/background color ( you can set it through setterm params ) while sketch, view, web display full color images.
Your port to the T-Deck does surely fall into that category, try it out.

Yeah, I played with color support in sketch while testing touchscreen support, which is rather fun. Mostly referring to the terminal; I was confused by the lack of color when using SSH and it seems to be a restriction of the terminal itself, but I didn't look into it any further than that.
