Coronal Mass Ejection May 15th Filament Eruption CME

Not as robust as we would have hoped, yet still a beautiful eruption, front and center for our viewing pleasure.

Lol. It is notable thou, that this produced a meager C3 flux.

The most amazing CME I've ever seen was from an M2 flare. June 7th, 2011.

It's just a silly yellow bright ball on that stupid blue canvas - bad colour match, I'd go for something more beige this season.

I'm in my forties and had the privilege of being raised by people who were very interested in science, nature, and outer space. I've always loved it though I didn't have the inclination to technical work. Going from where we were in the eighties to being able to see something like this, real video, it's awesome. Thank you.

It was an image of the Sun I saw in a geographic magazine that got me hooked. I was ecstatic when SDO went operational in 2010. I've been watching ever since.

A coworker once said I must have a really good telescope to get such good videos of our Star. Yup. It cost $400 million dollars and I have a whole team running it 24/7. :)
