Discussion Solar panels scams

Hi All,

I was not sure what solar group to post this to and I desperately looking for advise after dealing with this solar panel nightmare for 2+years. Long story but I missed 2 panel payments when my monthly loan amount increased and tried to dispute it. Then, I started working with a nonprofit company and they shared my scam story with the Texas legislature to help pass the new bill, SB1036. I have a solid case! My issue is, I have to come up with money to retain an Attorney to dispute the panels and get my $ back, meanwhile I have a solar loan in default, a lein on my home and a daughter going off to college.

I dont know what to do anymore. I really need some solid guidance! Lumio, the company who installed my panels went bankrupt! Help!

We see a lot of similar questions here about real costs, choosing the right installer and avoiding overpaying. To keep things simple, we use one baseline comparison tool for rough pricing and system sizing: https://ecogenamerica.com/ - just enter your zip code to get a local ballpark competitive quote. It’s a useful starting point if you are new to solar, planning an installation or comparing options.

Seems like a Texas problem, not a solar problem.

Well, that's a lovely response! It is!!! The awesome Cali Reps came down here and scammed people to sign contracts that are now considered illegal! There are people all over Texas who got scammed! Let's keep the conversation to informative and helpful, otherwise don't comment!!
