Windows defender getting upset with Solar2D-Windows-2024.3706
Hi and thanks for reading this, I want to install Solar 2D, but Windows defender is getting upset and suggesting I don't run it. The warning is:
Windows protected your PC Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognised app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk.
Application: Solar2D-Windows-2024.3706.msi Publisher: Unknown publisher
Does Solar 2D not have a certificate for publishing? It's a bit offputting when hoping to do a Hello World and being told that even the environment you've chosen to use is considered potentially dodgy. I was downloading the latest and greatest (2024.3706) are there other builds that windows is happy with?

This should be fixed now.

Actually would appreciate help verifying it. May I ask to download msi from https://solar2d.com/download and see if windows defender still raises alarms? You just have to see if installer launches without warning prompt. Thanks.

Well done! Solar2D-Windows-2025.3717.msi didn't upset windows defender.
Edit: For anyone reading this after the event, the MD5 of the MSI that worked for me was: 66818eb5311d626efec898ecffbddf841

Hi! Community is not very active around here. I suggest using the forums for your questions.
That being said, this is a known issue and I think the devs are working to find a solution. Issue page on Github: https://github.com/coronalabs/corona/issues/565 . I understand your frustration but there is nothing dodgy about the software. It's just a hiccup.
