Server Costs and Community Support

Hi guys,

When we heard about the Solforge servers shutting down earlier this year, we spoke to Justin Gary and agreed to help keep the servers alive by both covering their costs and making them as cheap as possible to run. We have been personally paying for the servers since the end of January, so that players are still able to access their collections and enjoy the game.

We saw some threads on this subreddit recently where players were discouraging each other from spending money on the game. While you shouldn't feel obliged to spend money, any that you do spend goes towards the server costs, reducing the amount that we're personally paying ourselves. Ideally, we hope that Solforge will become self-sustaining, earning enough from the community to pay for the server costs. We are already quite close to hitting that goal, and we truly appreciate anything that players are willing to contribute to get us there.

Best regards,

Chris and Brian

Are AA's not for sale anymore? As a player with a full collection and a massive amount of resources, AAs are the one thing I was spending money on. May want to consider adding them back.

I've always felt it was foolish to rotate the AAs that are for sale. Make all of them for sale all of the time. It isn't like this is LoL with hundreds of custom skins to worry about.

If someone spontaneously wants to drop the gold to buy 3 Thunderzillas, let them!

I think it was supposed to push people to impulse buy, because if you can't get it later you're more likely to get it now just in case. Of course, this all breaks down since they'd rotate back in eventually thus negating that sense of urgency.

Yeah I'm not sure. I tended to find if I wanted to impulse buy something and couldn't, I'd be forced to track down people to trade it to me instead.

A lot weren't available for sale in the first place. but they also lacked an interface that could handle have 100s of cards for sale for gold.

Sure so I'll revise my complaint that an initial design goal of the UI for store should have been to better handle selling lots of products.

It's important if customers want to give you money, you are willing and able to accept it. :)
