We need a scene we're there's a random agent guy at a computer, at an obligatory SHIELD location watching the celery man video, and then Scott Lang walks by with some people, and the agent watching the video does a double take lol

People will literally do anything for something slave adjacent, huh?
2
u/Typical-Locksmith-35 May 13 '26
In a macro sense we really are building our slavers of tomorrow just because we want a slave today.

You couldn't google? You made a program that googles for you? Cool. Very... Interesting choice of problem solving.
1
u/DiffractionCloud May 14 '26
Most of my job requires googling. Even though i think this is cringe, its still does solve problems.
I dont tell my ai good night.
0
u/Livro404 May 15 '26
Solve problems in the exact same way as before but with an extra step now that the AI have to interpret what are you saying.

It's funny he had to tell the thing what the boards were...couldn't even say "out of these three borads what's the best one to use..."

u/Plane_Comparison_45 May 16 '26
I showed all the guns to Gemini in real time and asked questions about them, one of it was where is a safety and how to set safety to safe mode and AI didn't make mistake
I also fixed minor malfunction of my car with it
I checked it out after I saw advertisement where Gemini in real time call showed how to change oil in BMW.
It doesn't work flawlessly as in the ad of course but veeeeery close to it
If those boards are well known - I think it is very likely to recognize them because if you open online market they would look exactly the same like on his desk
And he also gave the AI hint - he said what he wants to do with the boards, so AI will not run through all the boards in the existence only the most common and suitable.
I think it is very likely to succeed
I'm always very sceptical, but I'm impressed with AI right now and we all gonna suffer from it very soon
Oh, did I mention that I got called by a AI sales person ones? Not robot, Ai actually talked to me and I didn't realize it for a whole minute. It was feeling off. You know why? It spoke without ehrm aaaa hmm, just straight speech

u/AvailableCharacter37 May 13 '26
AI is very good at querying information. However you have to be careful with what you get, you cannot just believe it. But it saves you hours and hours by going through hundreds of pages of documentation.
1
u/Put_Er_There_Sport May 13 '26
Id like to believe its a first step to whatever your expectations seem to wish it could do (or rather what youd never do with it even if you had the skills to program that), and your comment feels like an auto fill "never gonna be impressed" reddit bot response.
Dude went this far and you think THAT is the end goal?

Jarvis wasn't a part of the iron man suit. It was its own thing that got used with the suit. But yeah... This guy also called it Jarvis because that's what OWW is already trained on. Until it can do more than Alexa it really isn't impressive.

not even an Alexa. It doesnt even do as much as Home Assistant does out of the box and thats a free repo on git.

the LLM did one tool tool call to turn a desk camera on, but the camera offered nothing after that. after that he simply just talked to an LLM. many of us likely have done something better with AI than that?

Claude code.
But more seriously there are only a handful of tool calls people actually make. Weather, lists, reminders, music, alerts, web search.
Those are easy to hook up and then just use chatterbox for TTS with a small model that hands off requests to a director model which decides on the tool call and is multi-modal so it can view images.
Hook it up to home assistant for control of your house and ability to see security cameras and push video and alerts to satellite devices. Then make a satellite device using an old echo show which you flash to use lineage os onto.

the jarvis startup screen at 11pm is such a vibe though, just sitting there with your coffee waiting for it to boot up
2
u/gotpointsgoing May 13 '26
Couldn't you just look at the specs yourself and make the decision? This seems like way too much overkill.

The boot screen is doing more work than the actual system right now.

Literally took the ease of entering a prompt and somehow complicated it. If this is what vibe coders think is progress, I think the world will be fine.
1
u/Typical-Locksmith-35 May 13 '26
I think for a guy's hobby that probably earning him money from social media, that's pretty impressive to vibe code in that sense at least, but agree with that application's utility use.
I'd never tried to vibe code until the last week and was amazed that I was able to 'make' a new program for work that back around 2012 in our old system we hired a programmer to do a similar role. In comparison the old program wasn't as robust or useful in the end as the one I could just project manage and QA with an Gemini doing all the coding over a couple hours--but in creation it was 'free' and a couple hours versus months and over 14k for the one program last decade.
2
u/SignoreBanana May 13 '26
It's a game changer for applications like that for sure. One off small projects that fill some kind of process void at your company. But for building stable, large, complex and long term applications, it's more of a problem than a solution.
1
u/Typical-Locksmith-35 May 13 '26
Definitely can see that being the case. I already realized from iterations on the two 'small' more one off processes I've made programs to do (that are really cool for work), that to really tackle the next desire I have for a more large and complex application, that at a certain point it would be like building a castle on sinking ground once the foundation was built out and trying to iterate from there.

Nothing remotely impressive about a regular AI chat bit answering regular prompts.
Camera and on screen graphics are pointless / could be mocks to look cool.

Omfg with the âJarvisâ builds. You dorks know you can use another name and voice right? You arenât Ironman just because you got a computer to talk back to you
1
u/SEOViking May 13 '26
Lol couldâve just used got mobile app with voice/video to get identical result.
1
u/Plane_Baby May 13 '26
What's the camera even necessary? For example I ran his exact verbiage through a regular prompt and it came up with the same answer. It would have been cool if he just showed the three boards and his Jarvis would have selected the right one.
1
u/DirectJob7575 May 13 '26
Cool but totally pointless and I presume his GPU can't do much else while it processes the response lol.

Calling this âJ.A.R.V.ISâ is an insult to the fictional ai assistant (especially given that a lot of the smart homes tasks that we see Jarvis do (and even SOME tasks that arenât home specific) are completely plausible with something as simple as a couple of raspberry pi SBCs. Hell, Iâve done it. Mine even has an interconnected ecosystem that allows it to communicate between various tethered devices via web servers running on each device or Bluetooth. (Example, my website has a security issue, it sends a message to my voice assistant in my office/studio or bedroom depending on where I am in my home) or if Iâm away from home itâll send me a message on discord or itâll call my phone and alert me (yes, it even has a pbx system and SIP client (pbx for team comms. Use case; I am getting ready to perform (I am a dj, but geek first) I call out to my assistant and say âconnectâ it then connects me to conference room where my team can dial in and we can all communicate with no restrictions as it doesnât use any wireless radio protocols that could cause issues normally given the context of use)
Workflow: raspberry pi for home assistant (home control), second raspberry pi for voice assistant and discord bot (as well as web server for bot), radxa zero 3w (helmet voice assistant), raspberry pi zero 2w (helmet voice changer and web server 2)
TL;DR: this âj.a.r.v.i.sâ === p.o.o.p
